Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
I can't say this is the best mac and cheese I've ever had, but it tasted pretty good. Lot's said it was not creamy, so I used an extra cup of milk and adjusted the flour. The sauce thickened up a lot when I baked it, so I am glad I made extra. It probably would have tasted better if I'd not mixed cheeses. Next time I will just use sharp cheddar cheese.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
I really liked the blend of seasonings. Sort of a spicy sweet flavor. Only reason I added other ingredients was that I wanted more than just a sauce with tomatoes. I sliced the chicken and cooked it without the flour as I did not want to take the time to do it that way, and added in the extra salt and pepper to the sauce. I used baby bella mushrooms, onions and a splash of red wine. Tasted great over rice. Thanks for the recipe. Will use it again.

Marinara Sauce

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
It tasted good as made, but I like more spices in the sauce. So I added a teaspoon each of Italian seasoning, oregano, and basil leaves. Did not have any fresh basil. Did not use the sugar. Also put one onion in the processor while mincing the garlic. I used a burgandy wine. Making it again today. Everyone really loved it. Thank you for a great basic recipe to go on, the wine is what makes the difference.

No Roll Pie Crust I

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
Excellent. Thank you for a healthfully made pie crust recipe. Only thing I did different is used unbleached flour. I always use peanut oil as it is much, much better than most oils you buy at the store. Next time I will try rolling it between 2 pieces of waxed paper so I can crimp the edges of the crust. I really could not tell any difference in taste, compared to the shortening type I used to make. Will always use this recipe from now on. Worked very well with the Chocolate Chess pie I made yesterday.

Pa Pa's Chess Pie

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
This deserves more that 5 stars. Wow, this is a great pie. I wanted to try a Chocolate Chess Pie, but didn't like those recipes. So I choose this one instead. Only wanted 1 pie, so I made half of it. I added 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa to it (did not add any extra sugar). I was almost afraid that it would not make a full 9 in. deep dish pie, as I made my own crust. It worked out perfect. I accidently forgot to add the flour! So I cooked it about an hour. It turned out fine. The chocolate and egg whites stayed at the top and the bottom was custard. Thanks for sharing a great recipe, I sure will use it over and over again.

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2011
A cookie with oil in it, humm, had to try it after reading the reviews. I don't use veg. oil anymore, so I used peanut oil. Don't use maragine either as everything baked burns with it in it, so I used butter. I don't use bleached flour anymore either, but found some selfrising flour that I didn't want to throw away and used it, just did not add the baking powder. Most recommended vanilla so added that in. Just did oatmeal cookies without the chips. Anyway... These cookies are AWESOME! Best I've tasted in forever.Wow... thanks for the recipe :)

Honey-Oat Pan Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
They just came out of the oven, and I can't stop eatting them, they are sooooo good! I did not have any wheat flour so I ground in the blender about 2 cups of quick oats and made a flour. Then used about 3 cups of white flour. I used just a bit more than one package of yeast. Did not use the 1/2 cup of oats as it was all figured into the rest. I do believe I've found a new bread recipe for loaves with this. Thank you for an awesome recipe. My son says, Mom we need to have this bread every nite of the week :) And I got 15 big rolls out of it.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
This tasted very good, I guess I was expecting out of this world taste due to the ratings. I will make it again and do 2 chickhens, cook it is a bag so my veggies will cook, do it at 275 so it won't take over 5 hours to cook, use cloves of garlic instead of the onion, and maranaide longer than the 16 hours I did it for. Leftovers were great the next night in the potato lasagne. Thank you for sharing, will use it again.

Creamy Potato Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Excellent idea. Tasted great. Used the extra garlic powder as suggested, used leftover baked chickhen, and sharp cheese. (didn't have all the recipe called for, and this sounded really good) Didn't bother with the veggies as baked ones don't taste too good. Great tasting. Will make it again.

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Very good. I used my own homeade mayo, and used djion mustard. It was a bit too much mustard flavor so I added about 1/2 T extra honey to it. Yummy!

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Very good and flavorful. I cooked my chickpeas and have enough to make it twice. I read over a lot of the reviews and added a bit of dijon mustard, a teaspoon of garlic powder and an extra tablespoon of mayo. Did not have any lemon juice. It resembles tuna to look at, but it's not much like tuna to taste. Really good recipe though and a keeper. Thank you for posting it.

Carnation® Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
I was only able to make the meatballs because I did not have the ingrediants for the sauce. The meatballs are great tasting. I used garlic powder and then the same amount of salt, also added about 1/8 t. of pepper. For the sauce I used mushroom soup and added some sharp cheese to it.
