I have lived in Somerset KY the majority of my life with the exception of a few years that I lived in Georgia. I have been married 10 years and have two boys. I teach 6th grade Math and love to cook dinner for my family every night. It is such a joy to me! In my spare time I love anything to with the outdoors; just anywhere I can be to spend time with my family.
My favorite things to cook
A favorite for me is anything Italian; no, I'm not Italian! I love to invent new recipes or make my own variation of a gourmet meal that I may find on a menu. I also love soups and slow cooker recipes for busy days!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my mom, grandmother, and I (as well as other relatives) cook Thanksgiving dinner. Then every week or so there after we make Christmas candy (fudge, peanut butter balls, divinity, etc.) I cherish this time with my family. I also have several recipes that have been handed down over the years from my side and my husband's side of the family. It brings back so many memories to make a dish from family members that have departed this Earth. I love to share these dishes with my friends and children.
My cooking triumphs
In the beginning- successfully making homemade pancakes!
Recently-Creating my own recipe of Chicken and spinach fettucine.
I also have a killer spaghetti sauce recipe!
My cooking tragedies
In my first year of cooking there were 2 trajic losses of food- pancakes and biscuits. The pancakes were runny, I dyed them pink for Valentine's Day, and basically disgusting. The biscuits could have been used as a weapon! They were stone hard and the dog tucked her tail and walked away!
