Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
I have made this so many times and everyone loves it! Rating based on recipe as it is written. I have also used beef and beef broth, turkey with the turkey breast. All good. Thanks for this great recipe.

Candied Sweet Potatoes

I use butter, not margarine. The cinnamon adds a very nice touch and we all love the toasted marshmellows.

Vegetable Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
Honestly, I wasn't thrilled with this soup. It was easy to make, but I thought that it tasted too much like a canned vegetable soup when it was done. I figure if it is going to taste like canned soup when I am done, I might as well save myself the trouble and just open the can of soup. The nutritional value of the canned veg and broth probably did not add much more than the can soup would have anyway. And it would have worked out to be more expensive than canned soup. I absolutely didn't like the second day leftovers. Sorry to disappoint. I guess that is the trouble with people rating the soup on the changes they made instead of the actual recipe.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
So, I usually try the recipe as it is written before I make changes, but this time, I took in the reviews and made the following changes. I used 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and filled one can again with chicken broth (not condensed). I rinced the black beans. I added spices to taste (garlic, cumin, chili powder, pepper). I wish I had changed out the can chicken for real chicken, but the soup tasted great. I also broke up the nachos on top of the cheese instead of putting them on the bottom of the bowl. I did not like them all mushy from the soup. This was a super easy soup to make and the whole family enjoyed it.

Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
I make this exactly as instructed and it is amazing! I've had people say they don't like curry and love this salad. And I had one person tell me that he could not have imagined this combination of ingredients and he loved it too. Then my son wrinkled his nose at it and when I was looking, ate MY pita and asked for another! Thanks for the great recipe!

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
I like to make sure the bacon is crispy and this dip is one of our favourites....perfect just as it is. I serve with nachos. If I am adding the tomatoes early, I drain just a bit of the juice.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
I was very happy with this rice pudding. Long grain rice was all I had on hand. And I mixed in cinnamon to flavour most of it, but did put a little aside with no cinnamon so that a friend could have his with homemade jam instead. I like my rice pudding warm and then I add a little cold milk over the top.

Whipping Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
This recipe is fantastic. One thing.... if I use pure vanilla extract, 2 T is way too much vanilla. However, the artificial extract is fine with 2 T.

Followed this recipe exactly. Was WONDERFUL! Even my children love it. They used it for their cooking project at school. Everyone I make it for raves. A definite keeper. If you make a double batch, the leftovers warm up nicely.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
These cookies were AMAZING! I make them exactly as it is written. I melt the butter just until it almost all melted, but not overheating it. I haven't refrigerated the dough, but follow the directions as written. They turn out perfectly. For gluen free diets... I have a friend who has to follow a gluten free diet and I used this recipe with 2 cups of the Gluten Free Flour Mix II with xanthum gum from allrecipes.com and they turned out even better! My friend was so happy. My husband wondered if I would start making his cookies with gluten free flour too!

Best Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
Was trying to find a recipe that could compete with my mother-in-law's bean salad. Followed this one exactly. My husband liked it and said it was very easy to eat. The longer it sat, the more he liked it. His brother said it was better than his mom's and swore me to secrecy. :) Thanks! BTW... for those who can`t find garbanzo beans... they are chickpeas.

Twenty-Four Hour Salad

Followed the recipe exactly. It was good enough, but I had a hard time thinking of it as a salad. Felt like I was eating a wrap without the pita. I doubt I will make it again.
