Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Rollups

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2014
Oh, yum! I went into this recipe thinking that I was going to have a frustrating time getting the chicken to role up. While it didn't go awesomely, it was still pretty easy to do. The taste of this recipe is just delicious. At first I thought, "Heavy cream? Just drenched over everything. . . mmmmmm??" But it was a great idea. I added one chopped shallot to the mushrooms and added sherry, because I didn't have any white wine (as was suggested by MICHELLECA). So good! I'll look forward to making this again some day.

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
Oh, yum, yum, yum!!! This was great. In my opinion, the dipping sauce makes it. I, like the top reviewer of this recipe, baked mine in the marinade. 375 for about 30 minutes. I cut my chicken into chunks, which is why it didn't take 45 minutes. My husband scarfed this down! Thanks for a definite keeper!

Excellent Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
Mmm mmm good! My husband said this was better than Panera Bread's! And, though modesty forbids, I nonetheless agree. :) The only thing I did was to add about half a cup of finely shredded carrots to the roux in the very first step. Oh, and I scaled this down to six servings, which was entirely adequate for the two of us. What a great recipe!!

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
I added broccoli, mushrooms (very large, halved), and garlic (chopped). I, like another reviewer, had difficulty with everything roasting in sync. The potatoes took longer than anything else by twelve minutes. Next time, I'll chop the potatoes smaller or else put them in first for twelve minutes, and then add everything else. Very delicious! I used lemon juice instead of the balsamic vinegar, because I didn't want the bitterness. Yumbly!

Onion Pasta

This is ingenius. Onions? Spaghetti? Yes, please. I added garlic to mine and did not do the whole bouillon cube. Yum!

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
Followed the recipe nearly to the letter--used dark brown sugar instead of light and cooked it for 8 hours on low--and it turned out great! I do not, however, understand how it would be barbecue-y enough to just put on a roll and go. I added a lot of barbecue sauce afterward I got all the meat out of the very thin 'marinade' it had cooked in. Great flavor.

Lori's White Bread Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
At first, I tried the batter and thought, "this is way too sweet," but then it baked up beautifully. I made 24 cupcakes and about 18 minis. 30 minutes for the regular sized at 325. A very delicious cake! I am so glad I tried it, despite being a little hesitant to because of the name of this recipe. :)

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
This is outstandingly delicious with the following modifications: double the gravy (except for the ketchup) and added a can of cr. of mushroom soup and beef-onion soup mix. I cooked the patties in a couple of tablespoons of butter to get a crispy outside. Even with a lot of pink in the middle, these cooked through beautifully with the gravy simmering for about twenty-ish minutes. I sauteed 1 lb. mushrooms and one large onion and then, when cooked through, I added them to the steaks and gravy just before serving. Served with mashed red potatoes. YUM! We both loved this recipe. :) In fact, my husband said it was one we'd have to make again and again and again.

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
The sauce tasted just like lo mein. Here's the reason this is getting four stars: it was so runny. This was just like eating spaghetti or linguine with a bit of sauce. The lo mein you buy in restaurants is infused with that sauce. So, next time, (since I definitely, definitely want to keep experimenting with this), I'll cook the pasta for a while in the sauce to try to get it to infuse. Perfect flavor, though. Perfect!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I'm rating this as five stars simply because it delivered what it promised: a great sugar cookie frosting that's soft when it spreads and hardens nicely. The only thing that I wasn't that excited about was that it didn't have that delicious buttery taste that I've come to associate with sugar cookie frosting. But, if you're cool with that, there is not reason why this frosting isn't perfect in every way.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
These are delicious! And boy---does this recipe make a good lot of them. I made these for Christmas and my family really enjoyed them. The cranberries had the perfect spark of color. The only thing I would do differently is to add more cranberries. I didn't have quite enough and that's the sort of thing a person would notice in a cookie---where are all the cranberries in this one?! Anyway, yum!! Just increase cranberries by about 1/4 C.

Double Coco Double Chocolate Chip Cookies (a twist on Toll House® cookies)

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2013
Very tasty! Perfect for Christmas with holiday red and green chocolate chips. I may, next time, (because there will be a next time), try using 1 C butter instead of 1/2 C butter and 1/2 C shortening. Either way, we really enjoy these beautiful chocolatey cookies. Thanks for the recipe!

This was absolutely, positively delicious. I doubled the spices. The whole house smelled incredible. And, the taste after it came out of the oven--scrumptious! Thanks for the recipe! This may become a holiday classic.

What a wonderful yellow cake!!! I followed the directions to the letter, beginning and ending with adding the flour to the mix. Frosted this with chocolate buttercream frosting and my husband was very delighted with his birthday cake. Thanks for the recipe!!

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
Delicious!! The only changes I made were to add 1/2 C brown sugar and 1/2 C white sugar, instead of 1 C white; also added 1 t of cinnamon and 1/2 t nutmeg to the apple batter. I did not shred the apples, just coarsely chopped them. These muffins taste like little apple pies! Yum!!!

Chef John's Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2013
Delicious! Beautiful red color. I didn't have any buttermilk, so I used 3/4 C milk and 3/4 t lemon juice and let stand for 10 minutes to make sour milk. These were a tad--just a tad--dry to me. Hence, the four stars. But (huzzah!) I got more than just a dozen cupcakes out of this recipe. I made 1 dozen regular sized cupcakes and another half dozen mini cupcakes. So, not many over the mark, but just enough to make us extra happy. :) Great recipe! It's scrumptious.

Bland. I even added chopped garlic, red pepper flakes, and other seasonings. And yes, I seasoned the turkey while it cooked. No go.
