Penne Russo a la Vodka

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
This is just about the easiest thing in the world to make, and so good!! I didn't have any prosciutto, and so made this vegetarian. Instead of 2 cans whole peeled tomatoes, I used 1 can diced tomatoes and 1/2 a jar of spaghetti sauce, because that's what I had on hand. It was still absolutely delicious!!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
5 stars, says the boyfriend! I followe advice about the packet of gravy, and only changed two other things-- I used Parmesan instead of Cheddar, because that is what Cheesecake Factory does (which is his fav), and I added frozen peas. Great comfort food, and good for leftovers!

Eggnog Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
So good! I tested this before Christmas to make sure it is good enough to serve a group, and it definitely is! I scaled the recipe for 11 people (cuts the cream cheese to 2 packages) and it fit in a prepared 10" graham crust perfectly. Baked like is was a pumpkin cheesecake, perfect timing! Used Southern Comfort vanilla eggnog to make it appeal to more people. Can top with leftover (homemade) cranberry sauce, chilled, to make it more festive. Absolutely delicious!

Original Irish Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
Horrible taste. I followed the directions to a "T" and am now bummed that I wasted so much good whiskey and cream!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Yumm! I used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar, and did not ice them. Very good and quick to make! To make them look better, dampen your fingers slightly and use to shape/flatten the cookies. Much prettier this way.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Delicious and easy! I made the day ahead of time, and used toasted almonds. A hit at my girls night in, and the leftovers went to work with my boyfriend-- his coworkers loved it! Great recipe, thank you!

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Easy, great taste, and you can bake instead of fry to free up your hands if you are entertaining (see another review's tips on the baking)! The green onion was too strong for me, but otherwise these were great and made me look good!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Absolutely wonderful, big hit at the party I took them to! Tips: forget trying to fill these with a spoon! Use a zip lock bag with a corner cut off, just pipe the filling in. Filling freezes well for use later, too! Just thaw when ready to use.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Ridiculously easy, pretty, and tasty! Will never buy the canned stuff again. Am going to use the leftover as a topping to the Eggnog Cheesecake recipe found here. Very good!

Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
The best recipe ever! Huge hit at Thanksgiving-- everyone complimented these! Nice recipe to please everyone from the marshmallow fans to the more reserved. I did not grease the potatoes, and did add the Tbs of pumpkin pie spice. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Wonderful recipe! Added the Tbs of flour, 2 tsp of vanilla, and cinnamon. Also grated bittersweet chocolate on the bottom of the crust to cut some sweetness (chef's trick!) Pie was gorgeous, and got rave reviews. I don't even like pecan pie and I enjoyed it! Next time will leave out the pecan quarters, but that is just personal preference and a cost saver. Yummy!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
FAR too garlicky, even for this garlic lover! I scaled it down for 10 people, roasted the garlic, and cooked in the slow cooker. The flavor was good, but hugely overpowering. Next time, I will cut the garlic and the cheese in half (never thought I would say that about CHEESE!) They were also very heavy, not fluffy.

Green Beans with Bread Crumbs

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Easy and good. I used the ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs, and omitted salt. Nice way to dress up green beans!

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I'm no gravy pro, so was happy when this came out a good consistency with no lumps (followed others' advice about how much flour to add). Couldn't find "Gravy Master" anywhere in the store, but the color was bearable. Only complaint is that it was wayyy too seasoned. But I think that was because my turkey stock was seasoned??

Pumpkin Roll Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Since I seem to be the only one reviewing this that was not impressed, I am confused! I followed others advice about adding Cool Whip and using Neufchâtel instead of cream cheese. I used the powdered wax paper, had no problems with that or rolling it up. But it was unattractive and unspecial. I did not like the walnuts with the pumpkin, either. Guests were not impressed. This one is not for me!

The best salad recipe I've made off this site! Defintely cut the sugar, per the other reviews. Really fantastic salad, I served it at a dinner party and everyone got seconds & scraped the bottom of the bowl!

My all time favorite bread recipe for the holidays. Do make it a day ahead, it tastes 100% better the following day. Great for gifts, always a hit!

This should be titled "EASY Lemon Butter Chicken". It is the easiest thing in the world to make, and everyone loves it and thinks it took more effort than it did!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
Quite good, and VERY simple. The dumplings did not taste quite right...or maybe it's the size or texture of them...but unless you are serving them to an expert, it's a hit!
