I'm a homeschooling mom and grandmother. I cook because I love to, and because I love healthy food. I have 3 bio kids, and 2 Chinese kids, and 2 Ukrainian kids. I'm one of those GRITS (girls raised in the south), and live on the mid Atlantic coast. I avoid aluminum, aspartame (nutrasweet), sucralose (splenda), all GMO crops, HFCS, hydogenated anything, and MSG to name a few. I try to use only a little white sugar or white flour. I avoid growth hormone and antibiotics. I also don't use artifical colors or flavors, and try to use organic when I can. All that said, things were just easier back in the day when there were not so many things to avoid! I call companies and write letters, and it helps!
I make a lot of muffins, and this one is good, but not the WOW factor that rates a 5. Very dense and heavy, but still yummy. I had to add a little more milk so that I could mix it without crushing the delicate berries, it is very thick. Love the sugar topping, it makes a nice crunch. I used Mexican unrefined Cane sugar instead of turbinado and instead of brown sugar, since I had it on hand. Also these muffins come out of the paper liner very well, they don't stick to the paper. Made 15 for me. I will make it again.
