I've been looking for a great all-around sugar cookie recipe (I've tried too many to count). Other recipes were good but nothing extraordinary. I wanted a recipe that I could tweak as I baked; change size; decoration; etc without compromising the taste. Well, this is it! All I did was add an extra cup of sugar and up vanilla to 1 1/2 tsp. I made sure the eggs were room temperature (just a peeve I have lol!) And I rolled the dough with confectioner's sugar. Kept the dough in fridge for about 2 hours since I was pressed for time. These were made for my daughter's Thanksgiving school party (she volunteered me and then told me only two days before). She asked me for the best sugar cookie ever LOL!!! So I found this, stayed up til 3am and I got a super super sugar cookie. My daughter gave it her blessings (this is from a choc-a-holic) and they are simply additive. I tried the icing here from JBS Box and it was perfect for this cookie. What I LOVED about this dough is that I was able to use it with cookie cutters large and small; I made thumbprint cookies with it and placed jam in the center; I decorated with colored icing; with colored sugar; with flavored sugar; I made them little, medium and large and no matter how I tweaked, the dough and flavor never changed. I don't know why some people are having trouble. I noticed several said dough was sticky so they added extra flour which made it dry. One has to roll dough in powdered sugar. It's the best! Thanks, Jill!
