About this Cook
I love to cook. Never have done it professionally and not sure I would want to, but will cooking for family or friends any time. Love to take a recipe as homemade as possible; anything short of churning butter! So far... I love and try to make things authentic if I can, short of flying cheese in from Europe. That's too much.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill! I love to grill. Charcoal only! Cooking on gas you may as well just cook on the stove. I will grill year-round, snow and cold or not. Love making breakfast food! No matter what time of the day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Butter. Took me a few years to get away from that fattening habit.
My cooking triumphs
Grilling pizza on the....ummmm.....grill. Guacamole and chips! Primo Burgers. (Been a long time for those)
My cooking tragedies
My first lasagna. (dry) I burned broth a few weeks ago... I WAS SICK AT THE TIME!!! ...who burns liquid...?

Clam Linguine
Yum! Okay, I have to say that the recipe threw me a little. There's a saucepan and then a skillet shows up and pasta never returns after being cooked al dente. Despite my confusion - and minus tomatoes because I don't like them - I threw this together and it is so good! Except for the tomatoes, I didn't waiver from the recipe. Cooked everything but the pasta in a saucepan (first the sauce and then after the clams, cheese) and then tossed it in a bowl with the linguine. KEEPER!

Slow Cooker Carnitas
Made this as instructed, but followed others advice and tripled the spices except cinnamon which I doubled. Just personal preference, I'd probably eliminate it next time. Solid recipe, but nothing too incredible.

Gnocchi with Sage-Butter Sauce
Fantastic! I made two 16oz. bags for my wife and me because one bag didn't look like it would be enough. It would have been! Who cares?! A delicious lunch for us tomorrow.
