Schweinebraten Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
This was ok. We used hard cider and needed to add a cup of chicken broth during roasting and another cup with flour for thickening the gravy. Added a few dashes of browning sauce and the gravy was very good. We served the roast and gravy with home made sauerkraut and potato dumplings. The roast was good, but there was nothing remarkable about it. Four stars essentially for the gravy; would be 3 stars for the roast itself.

Dry and beans were too hard. This said, my daughter loved this recipe. I won't be making it again, but I can assure you that she will...

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
Wonderful meatloaf recipe! The steak sauce, crackers and cheddar cheese add to make a tasty, moist meatloaf. Unfortunately there were NO leftovers for lunch! A nice change from the oatmeal and tomato juice/catsup recipe. I added a glaze of brown sugar, catsup and mustard before baking and it was awesome!

Garlic Alfredo Tilapia

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
We didn't like this recipe at all. The tilapia was too spicy for our tastes and the garlic alfredo sauce was very rich. We should have toned down the spice and just baked the fish and served with no sauce.

Good recipe and nicely spiced---not too hot and not too bland. Will make again.

Raspberry Pain au Chocolat (Raspberry Chocolate Croissants)

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Very good. My son ate Pain au Chocolat every morning when he lived in France. We tried making them from scratch and it tasted more like a baking powder biscuit. These were flaky and tasty, just be careful that they don't burn on the bottom.

Alison's Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
Tons of potential, but I made some changes for my family's tastebuds. I used all 10 broth cubes but skipped the extra salt. I used 2 t. of pepper and it was way too peppery, so will cut down to 1/2 t. next time. Very easy! Thanks for the base recipe.

Awesome! I used leftover regular cabbage and simmered most of the day. Will freeze and take for lunch throughout the winter. Mmmm...thanks!

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I used skin on frozen thighs and baked them from frozen. Definitely remove the skin and cut the oil in half as it was an oily mess. The chicken was moist as it always is when baked from frozen. I'll try it again with 2 cookie sheets, skinless chicken and half the oil. Then the potatos should crisp up.

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
Unbelievable sauce! I used frozen popcorn chicken and oven baked until crispy. Doubled the sauce and had way too much, so will freeze the leftovers in a Ziploc bag and thaw under warm running water when we make this next, which will be soon!

Chilled Christmas Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Very good. None left at the end of the evening. Tripled the servings for 12 guests. Used cranberry juice cocktail and made an ice ring by slicing oranges and lemons and freezing them in a plastic mixing bowl of cranberry sierra mist. Kept things cool and didn't dilute the punch with water from ice cubes.
