I made this as close to the original recipe as I could, so that I could review it fairly. I did leave the peel on the potatoes, since they were fresh-dug (and scrubbed!) potatoes that I bought at the Farmers Market just for this recipe. I also briefly used my immersion blender right before serving to get a thicker soup. The soup won raves from all of my family, with instructions to double it next time, since it only made 4 soup bowls of soup. I am planning on adding some parsley, thyme, white wine, and cheese the next time that I make it. This recipe will be a great reason to have leftover ham!
