Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
Made these exactly as written except omited the parsley because I nerver have any. Thought I had some Montreal Steak Seasonning but couldn't find it; will add some next time as suggested by other reviewers. Can't comment on the blandness becuse we had some wonderfully ripe tomatoes and dill pickles on them. Will be making them again. Oh...They weren't dry at all. I cooked them quickly on my George Foreman grill set at high.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
I've been making Spanish Rice this way for years--adding some ground cumin makes this five star.

Zucchini Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2010
I only had 3 eggs so I scaled down the rest of the ingredients appropriatly and added a handful of raisins. It only took 55 minutes in a 10 cup bundt pan. It was very oily, so only 4 stars. Otherwise it was delish. Next time I'll substitute applesauce for half of the oil.

Peachy Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
As the first to reveiw, I'm sorry I can't give this more than 3 stars. I followed the directions exactly. The recipe is easy but is lacking in a couple of ways. I think the addition of vanilla or almond extract to the batter and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top would give it a big boost. I used a 10" dark nonstick springform pan and the cake was over-cooked at 30 minutes; I'm glad I checked when I did. Also my peaches were rather small & 4 were plenty. The cornmeal was an "interesting" touch.

Potluck Spareribs

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
Sauce was way toooooo vinegary (if that's a word) for me. But that is my personal taste. The cooking method was great. Next time I'll try some dry rub on the ribs and stick with my Sweet Baby Rays.

Spiced Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
I would give this 10 stars if I could. Made it exactly as written except I cooked it for 6 hrs on low in the crock pot. Served it with rice pilaf the first night and with soft polenta a couple of days later. It was wonderful. Next time I'm going to make my own chutney as it is easy to make in the bread machine of all things. Thanks so much for the recipe.

Taco Seasoning

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
Only giving this 4 stars because I make changes. I reduce the chili powder to 2 tsp and increase the cumin to 2 tsp. And I don't use the cornstarch. I've been using this recipe for over a year now and will never buy the mix again. Thanks for helping me save a little $$.

Limoncello

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Absolutely wonderful. I have a year round loaded lemon tree so this will become a staple at our house. I adjusted the recipe for a 750 ml bottle--8 lemons, 3 cups water & 2 cups sugar. Going to try the creamy version next.

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
Made some changes and they came out great. Probably very good as is. I substituted peanuts for the walnuts and omitted the lemon juice. Chopped up 2 1/2 2.7 oz Snickers bars and sprinkled them on the cooling crust. Finely chopped the remaining half of the Snickers bar and mixed it with the reserved topping. Very rich and yummy.

Instant Hot Cocoa Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
Very tasty; much better than I anticipated. I didn't have any of the ingredients in the pantry so the initial cost was pretty high, but I'll be making this often so it will even out. Next time I'll add some instant coffee crystals to the mix for mocha.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
5 stars with my changes. Sauteed the onion in a little olive oil with some ground cumin. Replaced all the cheese with pepper jack. Not to bland, not too spicy. Used cream of celery soup, 'cause I had it. Even better the next day.

Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
This does not pretend to be real beef stroganoff. It's great for what it is--easy and tasty. I did brown a couple of tbs of flour with the meat to insure a thicker sauce and it worked great. Also used dehydrated onion as I was out of fresh. Will be making again. Forgot to mention that I omitted the mayo.

Oven Scrambled Eggs

These were really good. I used half and half instead of milk because I had it. I scaled down the recipe to test before I serve them on Thanksgiving morning. 20 minutes was perfect in my oven. I'll be adding linguica when serving company. Thanks for the great recipe.

Neiman Marcus Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
I reduced the powdered sugar to 3 cups but it was still too sweet and didn't have enough cream cheese flavor. It was better the next day but not enough to warrant making a second time without major overhaul.

Quick Yeast Rolls

These were really good and easy. Make the recipe as written--this is a batter roll and as such the dough is very soft. You get a completely different product by adding more flour.

Oven Fried Chicken III

I didn't like this at all and hubby loved it, so 3 stars is a compromise. I like mayonaise so that was not the problem; don't know what was.
