Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
after reading the reviews, thought I would try it on some filled cupcakes. Tried it, and will never waste my cream cheese on it again. Sorry but I just did not care for it.

East Carolina Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
As a native of eastern NC (Mt. Olive to be exact) I have had bbq sauce all my life. Wilburs, and Scotts out of Goldsboro, Mr. Rodney's in Mt. Olive, and a host of other places near here. My Dad and other members of my family have cooked their own pigs and we made our own sauce. I am 58 yrs old and have NEVER EVER heard of putting butter in this type of sauce. We never put molasses either. I have NO clue where this sauce came from...but definitely not from my neck of the woods!!! Oh and we never put any type of mustard or dark brown sugar either!!! My family loves our sauce on chicken also :)~

Vanilla Wafer Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
This is DELICIOUS!! Made it to share with older people. My Mom wants to know when I will make it again. My boss (who is a former caterer) thinks it is delicious, but wonders what it would taste like with chopped cherries. My little 89 yr old blind friend immediately wanted another slice. Took a slice to my brothers shop and he hid it so he wouldn't have to share with his employees. I didn't think about them but did take them some. Got a phone call asking me to make another. :). So, with that said, I might try it again and put cherries and black walnuts in it. I loved it.

Uncle Jesse's French Toast

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
How in the world can you rate a recipe if you haven't tried it????? Two stars huh? I make mine different also, but IF I was going to rate this recipe, I would at least try it. If I decided I didn't like it, then I would post MY recipe up for people to read and try. Because I don't really like cloves, am only giving this a 4. Really, I am just trying to say...STOP being stupid people!!!

Polish Meat and Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
So delicious. I sliced my potatoes about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and leave the red skins on. I used an electric frying pan and used 1 teaspoon canola oil and about 1/2 cup water. I put the lid on and let it cook til Ican just stick a fork through. Then I added bell pepper and onion. Put the lid on and let cooked just a few minutes. THEN I threw the sausage on top. For seasoning I used cajun seasoning and a bit of soy sauce. We like for it to have some browned places on the potatoes so the last few minutes I take the lid off. Usually have some type crusty bread and green beans. Oh...and don't forget to put a little wine in it when you start the potatoes. Seasoned black pepper is good too. I sometimes use green onions.

Beef Yakitori

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
haven't tried this but I have a very similar recipe that I also put 1/2 tsp white pepper in. Got the recipe in Okinawa when we lived there for 3 1/2 years. Yakitori (in Okinawa) was always done with chicken. This marinade is also wonderful on grilled steaks, chops etc.

Firecracker Casserole

delicious as written, but I think next time I may use corn tortillas and mix part of the tomato/cream of mushroom soup in with the hamburger to make it less dry. May try Mexican cheese blend also. Thanks lajune!!

Roasted Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
To me, it really had no flavor. I did exactly as directed except I seasoned the potatoes a little bit more than the 1/4tsp of pepper. Also another problem I had with this is with the color of the roasted potatoes, the eggs and then the bacon, it just looked nasty. I just wasn't impressed and will not be making it again. Really sorry but I will stick to my regular potato salad. Thanks for sharing tho :)!

Potato Squash Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2010
These were good but really bland. The 2nd time I made them, I added 1/3 cup parmesean cheese, 1 jalapeno pepper chopped small and1/3 cup chopped bell pepper. For the salt and pepper I used cajun seasoning. They had a much better flavor with these adjustments :)!!! Thanks for a really good idea!

Butternut Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
Thought I would try something new with the butternut. Well I have just looked back to see what everyone else thought and was really surprised. We had it last night..following recipe exactly except decreasing the sugar amount a bit. Being from the south, I thought we would enjoy it...but NO way will I waste my other stuff again to make it. Truely sorry....

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
I love this cookie. Have been making them since I was a kid. In fact we used to call it Mack's (my brother) cookie because he was always asking for them. Some things other than coconut that you can add are raisins or extra chopped nuts. At Christmas I make these and before they get set I will put half candied cherry on them to give them a little extra pizazz. Oh...and I am in my 50's. :)

Pinto Bean Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
My husband thought it was ok, I thought it tasted like pintos with lots of sugar in it. I did add the nuts and a tad of vanilla, but it just wasn't what I wanted out of a pie. Even tho it was easy, I will keep looking.

Delicious. First time I did as directed, but second time I forgot to put the butter in, and actually they did better, and I really like the taste better without the butter. Thanks for a new Christmas tradition cookie here :).

Chocolate Covered Cherries

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I quit wrapping cherries when I had 130 wrapped. I still have some dough in my freezer. Luckily I had the extra chocolate chips for all the extra cherries. Giving it a 4 because the doughm, cherries and chocolate just dont add up correctly.

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Even tho I thought the coffee sounded wierd, and I HATE coffee, I gave this a shot. I am really glad I did. It is delicious. I did add some onion slices to it. I also added a little wine, cajun seasoning and little soy sauce. The gravy was delicious, and the meat was really tender. The left over meat I shredded, mixed with the gravy and had on toasted buns the next day. A keeper at our house!!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
Delicious cake even tho I tweaked it just a bit. I used 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup oil. I had instant cheesecake pudding on hand, so used it instead of the vanilla. I also used 2 cups of frozen blueberries so it cooked longer than the 60 minutes. I just kept a close check on it. I also used a lemon glaze cause I didnt like the idea of a blue glazed cake. My husband has requested this to be made more often :).
