About this Cook
I enjoy painting, reading, Cillian Murphy movies, and anything flavored with cloves! I am pretty adventurous when it comes to food and I will try anything once.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! I love bread and cakes. Plus, no one is ever picky about dessert. ;)
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make toffee apples and they turned out hard as a rock! Also very bitter. I tried to temper it with honey and cane sugar, but that wasn't fooling anybody. Quite sad.

Pumpkin Chipotle Soup
Very tasty! I was sort of limited to what our commissary had in stock, so I just used the hot peppers we had available (sorry, don't know which kind) and adobo seasoning instead of sauce. I also like my food a little more on the spicy side like other reviewers, so I put a liberal dose of cayenne in as well. ;) I added a drizzle of the extra half-and-half on top for appearance. It turned out wonderfully and my husband was a huge fan. I will definitely make this again!

Garlic Rice
Like other reviewers, I omitted the pork, and the recipe still turned out very well. I used margarine instead of vegetable oil, and just used more chopped garlic and table salt instead of garlic salt. It turned out very well. I used it as the rice portion of a curry dish and my husband said it was a good complement. :)

Honey Glazed Ham
This recipe was absolutely delicious. I was kind of stuck with what our commissary had around the holidays, so I subbed brown sugar and light corn syrup instead of the dark, and used two 2-pound hams. It still turned out great. The glaze was a little more than we could use within the cooking time, but I'd rather have too much than too little. We got to eat the leftovers in sandwiches and other dishes, too! Yum yum yum!
