Chinese Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
Very enjoyable. I used stew meat instead of a roast, cut the bake time to 1 hr @325 and 1 hr @200, tripled the spices, used 1 C reduced sodium soy sauce and ZERO water and still needed to add some flour to thicken gravy. You can add water or broth at that point, depending on how many veggies you need gravy over, but there was way over and above for just the meat.

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

really delicious combination of flavors and textures. the crust is crispy and delicious --can be used for many other dishes and you can even substitute the sugar with splenda with marvelous results. will give non-pumpkin lovers the most pleasant surprise.

Outstanding! Gorgeous enough for a really fancy dinner party, each fresh flavor distinct but beautifully combined, light but filling. Thank you Star Pooley!

Baklava

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2006
This was delicious and incredibly easy to make. I was lucky enough to find phyllo dough already in 9x13 rectangles. I used a mixture of pecans and almonds and wonder if any nuts would work nicely. I did use the lemon zest and wouldn't change a thing about this recipe. Thanks!

Bacon Cheese Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
On top of delicious, very pretty with the dark pumpernickel. With such strong ingredients: pumpernickel, bacon and sharp cheese, don't be afraid to use the spiciest mustard available, or it can get absorbed and lost.

Texas Caviar with Avocado

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2004
Delightful as is. The medley of ingredients were appetizing looking and delicious! I may mash up the black-eyed peas (only) in the food processor next time to see if it's a little more traditional dip-like. Fantastic way to eat beans (peas). Happy New Year!

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2003
Fabulous! Rich, dense and easy to make. Being a very forgiving cake, you don't have to be afraid to play with the sugar/chocolate ratio. I only had an 8-inch cake pan, so couldn't use all the batter, but filled the pan to the brim since the cake doesn't rise, and it turned out fine. I have also made it with semi-sweet chips (1/2 cup sugar) with great success.

Broiled Herb Butter Chicken

really easy and really good. i was in a terrific hurry, so i used a skillet on medium high for about the same amount of time (9 mins one side, 7 on the other). delicious and i agree with the rater who recommended to use with shrimp.

Brown Sugar Smokies

These were delish and snapped up right away at coffee hour. Next time I'll add a little water to the sugar so I can stick a dab on each smokie.

Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2002
very tasty. instead of breasts on the bone, i used boneless, skinless breasts and made sure to smother the top with leftover crumbs plus an extra half batch of butter/garlic/worcesteshire sauce mixture. cooking time was more like 40 minutes.

Crispy Coconut Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2002
Wonderful recipe for appetizers or main dish. I added curry powder per LIANNENC's suggestion and it made it! I also used a couple of garlic cloves and a chopped onion slice (instead of powders in the flour mixture) on the bottom of the pan --the flavors came through and they protected the coconut from the direct heat. Make sure the pan is not too hot so the coconut doesn't burn.

Artichoke-Chile Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2002
Very delish! Quick and easy. I followed others' advice not to use all the chiles --I'll use the whole can next time. I also substituted the remaining quarter cup of sour cream for some of the mayo and was generous with the garlic.
