Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
Delish! I substituted 1/4 cup flour for 1/4 corn starch (a trick for when you don't have cake flour) and the cake turned out moist, soft, and crumbly. Per another reviewer's tip, I added the eggs one at a time as well as started and ended with the flour mix when beating that in with the milk. Really, really good recipe!

Mother's Applesauce Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
Really good recipe! This recipe makes a big batch, so be ready! I got 30 muffins out of it. I'm sure they'll all get eaten because they are soft, moist, and sweet - but not too sweet. I added extra raisins (one cup is a bit stingy if you are someone who likes them) and substituted butter flavored shortening for the butter/margarine because that's what I had on hand, and I was really pleased. Next time I make it I'm going to try adding carrots and oats or wheat flour as other reviewers have suggested. It may make for a better, richer texture. Maybe.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
A GREAT base recipe! Here's some things I've tried: -more garlic, and add it right away with the butter so you really infuse that flavor -onions, chives, and/or shallots -peppers (you could even get crazy an add some spice!) -salt, sea salt, seasoning salt, etc. -black or white pepper -paprika -Italian blend seasonings -a couple of different cheeses -if you're eating it with shrimp, add a seafood seasoning blend. Steak, a steak blend. Chicken...you get the idea. -whatever tastes good! -and finally, a little flour to help thicken it up more. Also, you can totally skip the parm and exchange it for cheddar and/or pepper jack and - ta da! - nacho cheese sauce! Remember: recipes are just GUIDELINES and meant to explore and have fun with! (And I learned that while in the USA!) ;)

Beer Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
So easy and very good! Next time I think I'll reduce the hot sauce and up the heat with dry spices. The hot sauce added to much of a vinegar-y taste for my liking. But it was still so good, it didn't last long enough to find out what it tastes like when cold!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
This pie is good, and a light texture, but I prefer the creamier recipes made without milk. I'll use this recipe without adding the 1 cup of milk in the future.
