Grilled Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
Simple, fast and delicious. I would spray the foil or use olive oil to mix veggies with salt and pepper. Thank you for the recipe.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

These were fantastic cookies. I used butter instead of margarine.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
This asparagus was fresh, crisp and delicious. I tossed the spears in EVOO, sprinkled with salt, fresh ground pepper and minced garlic-tossed again. After placing them on a foil lined baking sheet I drizzled with fresh lemon juice and finished with parmesan. I agree with only leaving them in the oven for appx 8-10 minutes on 400 for thicker spears.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
After adding a teaspoon of vanilla (not imitation) and omitting the melted butter I found this to be worthy of 5 stars. I took the advice of others and doubled the recipe. I melted butter into the skillet before dropping the batter, this made the outside golden brown-buttery goodness.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
I am giving this 5 stars, because although I made some changes, I can tell it was good to begin with. I used red beans instead of kidney, I also chose to only saute the garlic for one minute to avoid the over-cooked taste. I increased the cayenne to 1tsp and the cajun to 2tsp and added half andouille and half turkey keibalsa sausage. It was excellent!

German Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
This cake and the carrot cake III are what I made for a birthday party. This cake was nothing short of amazing. I mixed a few more ounces of semi-sweet chocolate to the drizzle. My advice, like other's is to toast the pecans and coconut.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
I made this cake for a birthday party, and I thought it was AMAZING! The frosting was perfect, and the only adjustment I made to it was using 3.5 cups of sugar. i will definitely make this again although next time I think I will run the carrots through the food processor.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
This banana bread was fantastic! I love it just how it is and have made it several times! Tonight I will be making two loaves, adding chocolate chips to the remaining batter and making muffins for my girls. Thanks for sharing this!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
This lasagna was excellent, the whole family loved it, especially my 5 year old! I'm making it again tonight with a minor change-I'm going to use 12 ounces of cottage cheese and 4 ounces of the ricotta! Thanks for this recipe, John!

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
These were very good! I would also suggest, as others have, adding a bit more salt. Will use this recipe again, and will also try with different seasoning variations. Thanks! PS-I freeze any leftover buttermilk in ice cube trays and place in a ziplock!! Works perfect so that you don't waste, always have it on hand and can buy it on sale without having to use it right away.

Oven-Barbecued Spareribs

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I will give this 5 stars, although I made some changes! I did a dry-rub on both sides of the ribs (I also made way more) the rub included garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. I let it set overnight and then completed the recipe as written. I've made these two times now, and each time I get RAVE reviews from the girls and daddy!

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: May 25, 2011
I gave this 5 starts after a few alterations :) I used onion soup mix instead of the onion and the seasoned bread crumbs that others suggested. I used half the amount of brown sugar, as I like a little less sweet. I like to broil on HI for 3 minutes, then let set for at least 8 to 10 minutes before serving. Very flavorful, my 3 and 5-year-old daughters loved it. Served with buttery mashed potatoes and green beans.

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
This was pretty good. I don't prepare cauliflower often, I will have to venture more into it after eating this. Kid and hubby approved.

Tantalizing Turkey and Blue Cheese Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
These were fabulous! I chose to take some advice from previous reviews. I added and additional 1/2 cup of bread crumbs (I used a mixture of plain and Italian style) I also sauteed the onion, jalapeno and garlic slightly before mixing it in with the other ingredients. Wonderful flavor and I am happy to see children learning to cook! Everyone should learn, and you are off to a great start!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
This cake was excellent...of course I made a few alterations-so it's not exactly fair for me to judge! I used a butter-cake instead of white, I only used one cup of the brown sugar, and instead of cherries, I used fresh strawberries. I also did as others suggested and used the pineapple juice instead of water. Made it for father's day, and it was an even bigger hit than my fish tacos!! (everyone loves my fish tacos) Thanks for the recipe!

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
We served this to 2 adults and 4 kids under 7, it was a hit. I prepared it exactly as written. It was given 4 stars because I felt it was lacking in the flavor department a bit, possibly olives or some red pepper flakes would have been perfect.

Mexican Baked Fish

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
This was a big hit with the hubbs and our 3 and 6 year olds. I loved the chips on the top! I squeezed fresh lemon juice on top of the fish first, I also used pepper jack cheese and broiled it on high for about 2 minutes at the end. Thanks for this, we will make it again!

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
I used a bit less butter and also subbed the cream for almond milk. I, too, boiled the crushed garlic cloves in the water, just easier. These were really good, kid and hubby approved.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
This soup was pretty good! It seemed to have too much egg for me, so next time I will cut it in half! I took advise from previous ratings and added egg AFTER thickening. I also used half chicken broth and half vegan veggie broth. Both of our kids and my hubby LOVED it!

Awesome Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
These were good! Something tasted a little "off" to us in these rolls, I'm convinced it was the bean sprouts! We added chopped Bok Choy and mushrooms. Will make again!
