Oven-Barbecued Spareribs

I will give this 5 stars, although I made some changes! I did a dry-rub on both sides of the ribs (I also made way more) the rub included garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. I let it set overnight and then completed the recipe as written. I've made these two times now, and each time I get RAVE reviews from the girls and daddy!

Grilled Potatoes and Onion

Simple, fast and delicious. I would spray the foil or use olive oil to mix veggies with salt and pepper. Thank you for the recipe.

Mexican Baked Fish

This was a big hit with the hubbs and our 3 and 6 year olds. I loved the chips on the top! I squeezed fresh lemon juice on top of the fish first, I also used pepper jack cheese and broiled it on high for about 2 minutes at the end. Thanks for this, we will make it again!

World's Best Lasagna

This lasagna was excellent, the whole family loved it, especially my 5 year old! I'm making it again tonight with a minor change-I'm going to use 12 ounces of cottage cheese and 4 ounces of the ricotta! Thanks for this recipe, John!

German Chocolate Cake III

This cake and the carrot cake III are what I made for a birthday party. This cake was nothing short of amazing. I mixed a few more ounces of semi-sweet chocolate to the drizzle. My advice, like other's is to toast the pecans and coconut.

Carrot Cake III

I made this cake for a birthday party, and I thought it was AMAZING! The frosting was perfect, and the only adjustment I made to it was using 3.5 cups of sugar. i will definitely make this again although next time I think I will run the carrots through the food processor.

Pizza Swirls

I gave these a 3 because I felt they were pretty bland. I made sauce with sweet Italian sausage and ground beef that I would use for lasagna/pasta instead. After my alterations, they were excellent. Also, they didn't put the hour of "rise" time in the prep, so really it takes an hour and 45 minutes.

Easy Meatloaf

I gave this 5 starts after a few alterations :) I used onion soup mix instead of the onion and the seasoned bread crumbs that others suggested. I used half the amount of brown sugar, as I like a little less sweet. I like to broil on HI for 3 minutes, then let set for at least 8 to 10 minutes before serving. Very flavorful, my 3 and 5-year-old daughters loved it. Served with buttery mashed potatoes and green beans.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

This asparagus was fresh, crisp and delicious. I tossed the spears in EVOO, sprinkled with salt, fresh ground pepper and minced garlic-tossed again. After placing them on a foil lined baking sheet I drizzled with fresh lemon juice and finished with parmesan. I agree with only leaving them in the oven for appx 8-10 minutes on 400 for thicker spears.

Pizza Casserole

We served this to 2 adults and 4 kids under 7, it was a hit. I prepared it exactly as written. It was given 4 stars because I felt it was lacking in the flavor department a bit, possibly olives or some red pepper flakes would have been perfect.

Spanish-Style Quinoa

This was just "ok" for us. We are big fans of spanish style rice and other foods, and this had a similar taste. Our issue was with it being pretty bland, even after doubling the spices. I felt the depth of flavors wasn't all the way there. I will possibly make this again, with a bunch of changes.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

This was pretty good as listed, but something was missing with the flavors. I think if I make this again I will take the advise of other cooks and drain part of the juice from the tomatoes, add a tsp of Creole seasoning and I've not decided what else, as I am still tasting it now.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

I am giving this 5 stars, because although I made some changes, I can tell it was good to begin with. I used red beans instead of kidney, I also chose to only saute the garlic for one minute to avoid the over-cooked taste. I increased the cayenne to 1tsp and the cajun to 2tsp and added half andouille and half turkey keibalsa sausage. It was excellent!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

This banana bread was fantastic! I love it just how it is and have made it several times! Tonight I will be making two loaves, adding chocolate chips to the remaining batter and making muffins for my girls. Thanks for sharing this!

Awesome Egg Rolls

These were good! Something tasted a little "off" to us in these rolls, I'm convinced it was the bean sprouts! We added chopped Bok Choy and mushrooms. Will make again!
