Frosted Cranberries

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2013
Since I found this recipe a few years ago, I have made them every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. All my friends are hooked on them too. I found that a little bit of unflavored gelatin mixed with water works very well in place of the eggs or corn syrup. I put a small amount of sugar in a pie plate and roll a few cranberries around, then dump them onto a large waxed-paper lined cookie sheet to dry. Once they are all rolled, I use a sifter and sprinkle the tops with a little more sugar. The leftover used sugar can be sifted and used to fluff the bottom of a glass bowl/jar for displaying the cranberries. Also, try sugared mint leaves to tuck into the cranberry display.Very festive and tasty!

Fig and Arugula Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Delicious! Easy and awesome. I love, love, love all of the ingredients in this salad, so it was a no-brainer. The bite of the arugula paired with the sweet figs and balsamic vinegar are a perfect balance.

This reicpe made a LOT of cabbage. The recipe was fine, I guess I just discovered that our family does not care for Red Cabbage.

Fig-Glazed Bosc Pears

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Everytime I see this recipe in my recipe box I laugh. I gave it 4 stars because I think if it is prepared properly, it will be awesome! I made this as directed, but my "baking sheet" was rimless - which translates to hot honey all over the bottom of my oven! Next, I did not have (or know what it was) pomegranate molasses, but I did have regular molasses...can you see where this is going? Well, the molasses taste was over powering, but I was determined to eat these potent pears anyway. Everything else about this recipe rocked! Just be sure to use a rimmed baking sheet and please do get pomegranate molasses - it is not the same as sorghum molasses. I will make these again (correctly) because even with the problems and substitutions, I knew it was a good recipe.

Johnny's Spice Rub

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
I thought this looked like a good recipe for a rub. I guess I must have put way too much on the meat. It was overpowering. My husband liked it, so I gave it 3 stars. I probably will not make it again as I did not care for it....Back to the search...

Cream Cheesy Cubed Zucchini with Lemon and Oregano

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
I have made his dish several times for my family with the same result every time. Delicious! Easy recipe to follow and my family loves it! For those who do not like the mushy texture of summer squash, try this. The cubed zucchini stays firm and Chef John's tip about not adding the salt to early really makes a difference in the texture!

Turkey and Yam Spicy Tacos

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2012
I found this recipe while searching for something other than chili or meatloaf to make with ground turkey. My husband raised his eyebrows and my daughter said she just wouldn’t eat dinner that night (she does not like yams, sweet potatoes or turkey). I said “Just try it, it might be good.” OMG!!! Everyone loved it! It is now my daughter’s favorite recipe. She even asked me to make it instead of turkey for Thanksgiving! I now make it about once a week. It seems like I get a craving for “Yammy Tacos” every few days and I just have to have it. Thanks Fooddude for sharing this unusual and amazingly delicious recipe! My one tip: If you don’t like spicy, ditch the Cajun seasoning and add ½ tsp paprika instead.

Elegant Fig Appetizers with Goat Cheese and Almonds

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
My husband an I just moved to house with a fig tree- loaded with figs. Last week I bought some Chipotle Chevre from the farmer's market, so when I saw this recipe i had to try it. It was the BOMB! The chipotle added a little kick to the flavor that we loved. The toasted almond on top added a nuttiness that really brought the flavors home. I ate 4 halves myself and don't think I need dinner tonight. I will definitely make this again. Thank you for such a simple, delicious recipe.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
We had this for dinner tonight and it was FANTASTIC!! I took the advice of others and let the filet rest for an hour before putting under the broiler and after it was done. It was the most tender steak I have ever made! Thank you Imvintage for the advice. Made the balsamic glaze with a little garlic powder and added 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce and turbinado sugar. Reduced the glaze and served over the filet at the table. My husband raved and said this was restaurant quality. Served it with cheesy potatoes, grilled brussel sprouts, and a mix of brown and black rice. Delicious!

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Delicious recipe! I made this using homemade green sauce and chicken I cooked in the crockpot the night before. I replaced 1/2 of the sour cream with plain greek yogurt to cut down on the fat. It came out perfect! Light and delicious! This recipe is a keeper.
