Authentic German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2013
I have made this recipe several times for potlucks and group dinner events... Sometimes I add in other sautéed veggies - mushrooms, celery, carrots, etc. It's all good! I don't eat meat, so I leave the bacon out. This dish is seriously easy to make and very seriously delicious. I love that it doesn't use the heavy mayo in other potato recipes. I sub dried parsley, and it tastes just fine.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
This was my first time cooking a turkey and it turned out perfectly. My boyfriend insisted we get an 18-lb. bird (which is huge). I followed the recipe and cooked it at 350 for a little less than 4 hours. So moist and flavorful - left overs were awesome too!

Mushroom and Swiss Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
I LOVE this recipe. I serve it over whole-grain thin spaghetti tossed with olive oil and red pepper flakes, but any pasta will do. Also, the Swiss cheese is optional for me... sometimes I forget to use it and don't notice until dinner is over. This makes delicious leftovers.

A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
This is one of my go-to recipes. I always add more veggies, usually 1/2 an onion and a head of broccoli and serve over brown rice = delicious. I used two habeneros the last time I made it and it was spicy like WOAH. But still tasty. Powdered thyme works just fine too.

Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
I had never heard of quinoa before this recipe. Cooking the quinoa with the boillon/garlic is a MUST - it tastes terrible/bland without it. Any mediterranean ingredients just make the dish more awesome. I like to add diced tomatoes and pepperoncinis.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

The ultimate comfort food. I followed the recipe exactly and it was AWESOME. I have never liked dumplings, but they made the dish. Highly recommended.

This is a delicious recipe! The wine and sherry give the dish a unique flavor - I served it with spaghetti.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
Super delicious. I also added 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips... I couldn't stop myself from snacking every time I walked by in the kitchen. My boyfriend took a loaf to work and the pan was picked clean in less than a half hour!

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
This is an excellent and relatively healthy recipe. I used all whole wheat flour (I ran out of all-purpose). I made two batches - the first with the brushed butter on top, and the second without. I actually like them better without the brushed butter! They keep for several days and are great re-heated.

Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
I made this recipe "by the book," and the turnovers turned out perfectly. I accidentally over-filled my first couple and they looked a sticky mess, but came out of the oven looking great. I did have over a cup of filling left over... To avoid this, I will either (1) use smaller apples or (2) buy another package of pastry sheets. Bon appetite!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
Definitely the best sugar cookie recipe I've come across. The cookies held together exceptionally well, even when using hard-to-make shapes (i.e. snowflakes. They were delicious without frosting too! I added a couple dashes of both nutmeg and cinnamon.

Baklava

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
This was my first time making baklava, and the recipe turned out great! I used mixed nuts and about 1.5x the recommended syrup. It was my boyfriend's first baklava experience, and he loved it!
