German Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2015
Delicious. I only tweaked the recipe to add flavor. Teaspoon of vanilla, one of sugar and some dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg. Turned out wonderful. Family over for brunch enjoyed it more than the fancy new waffle restaurant in La Jolla. Sautéed apples and added maple syrup to pan to warm up for topping. All gone quick!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2014
I tried this recipe and it came out very dry. I had a 7lb turkey. I put some butter on the bird and in the crock pot. I didn't follow the recipe time. Since I was going to work, I put on low and 8 hours later it was way over cooked. Be sure to stay with it the first time to know the cooking time for your crockpot. I did have the most delicious gravy. I'll try again when at home to monitor.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
Great recipe! I gave it as Christmas gifts and it was quickly gobbled up. I don't buy corn syrup so I used molasses in its place, same amount. Did everything else as directed and it was delicious. With the peanuts and molasses, it tasted just like homemade Cracker Jack.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Great bread! I baked 2 5x9 loaves for the school. To make it a little healthier, I cut oil in half and replaced with applesauce. Used 1 c brown sugar and 1 c white sugar. Also, I doubled the ginger. I used olive oil because that's what I have in the house. Be sure to have a very large bowl for mixing the wet and dry ingredients. Next time, I'll add raisins and nuts. Thanks for the recipe and all the suggestions.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
Huge crowd pleasers for Christmas eve dinner. I used ground turkey instead of beef, since I already had it. Also, just saw that I forgot to add the egg....oops! Everyone really enjoyed it. Served with apps of Bob's stuffed mushrooms and antipasto salad from Epicurious. Also, side dish of sauteed garlic and zucchini.

Bob's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
These were delicious and gone very quick. I adjusted according to other comments, by not adding parsley. Also, I used only 1 stick of butter, 2/3 in mix and remaining 1/3 over the tops. I ran out of mozzarella making the lasagna, so I used parmesan on the tops. Still very delicious. Thanks Bob!!

Stuffed Jack-O-Lantern Bell Peppers

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Great recipe and lots of fun to make. I served with mashed potatoes and brocoli. Placed the pepper in the center of the potatoes and put brocoli up like trees. The family really enjoyed the filling. I added another clove of garlic and another small tomato to the recipe. Since I didn't have chili sauce, I used ketchup. Added cheese to the tops too.
