About this Cook
With two kids, a husband and a full-time job, I do quick and easy during the week and get a little fancier on the weekend. I find cooking relaxing and love to entertain by giving dinner parties!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking just about anything. One-pot meals are a favorite in our house and the slow cooker gets a lot of use. I like to barbeque all year round - there's nothing like grilling meat and vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are a favorite family tradition for me. I cook the same dishes my mother did. I won't fool with tradition.
My cooking triumphs
My latest favorite is Thai cooking. I made, from scratch, of course, a coconut chicken curry that I haven't seen bested in a restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
I don't do pies. My mother-in-law is a world class pastry maker. Her peach pies have won awards! I, on the other hand, succeeded in making a pie crust that would have been better used as a frisbee!

Red, White, and Blue-Misu
This is an excellent recipe as others have said. However, I agree with other reviewers that it requires a couple of tweaks to make it truly outstanding. First of all, you really should use fresh fruit, not frozen. Also, you need sugar and some type of flavoring both for the berry mixture and the cream mixture. Otherwise, it really is quite bland. I found Grand Marnier was the perfect flavor to complement the berries, much better than coffee liqueur would be. With those changes, it was a hit both times I've made it so far. And it's beautiful to look at too, bonus!

Janet's Famous Banana Nut Bread
This recipe is a keeper. I used yogurt instead of sour cream simply because that is what I had, ditto walnuts instead of pecans. It was delicious. Sprinkled some extra nuts and cinnamon/sugar on top before baking. A definite hit!

Shrimp Gazpacho
This is outstanding. I did add a bit of garlic but otherwise didn't stray from the recipe. I thought I made more than I would need but NOOOOOO...it's gone and I want to make another batch right away. Just make certain you use the freshest of ingredients.
