BLOTCHE aka Widow maker

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
Oh, it was AMAZING, but I like my sandwiches to not require quite so much effort. It was a ton of work for a sandwich. No doubt about it, it was still good, but the name is fitting. We both felt like we were going to go into cardiac arrest after dinner. So good and if it were in a restaurant so I didn't have to prepare it and clean up after, I would order it every time. :)

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
I have been trying to find a broccoli cheese soup that is relatively quick and easy. Here it is! I made this and then put it in the crockpot on warm. It's pretty perfect. I had a two-pound loaf of Velveeta I needed to use so we doubled the batch. My husband, who swears "soup is not a meal" brought this for his lunch for four days. We also took half of it to a neighbor. So don't double it unless you need to feed a BIG bunch. :)

California Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
this is one of my favorite go-to recipes because it is uncomplicated and relatively few ingredients. one thing i have found has ruined it is using canned tomatoes. resist the urge! :) i use different pasta depending on what i have on hand. i usually make it with penne though. sounds disgusting, but is actually good as a cold salad the next day. and when i make it for company i leave the feta out and let people add as little or as much as they'd like, it's one of those finnicky cheeses. :)

Slow Cooker Cheesy Tortellini

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Husband was IN LOVE with this (as I made it with modifications) and keeps asking when I will make it again. I used a pound of sausage and skipped the beef. I added a bag of spinach and doubled the tortellini. I baked it at 350 for 30 minutes instead of slow cooking it. I was afraid the tortellini would turn to mush if I cooked it for several hours.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
My husband gave this five stars, I would give it about three as it lacked some flavor until you put the vinegar in. Then it tasted like vinegar. :) But hubby says it's one of the better clam chowders he has ever had. I like my soup/chowder to be chunky so I sliced carrots and celery and left my onion pieces big. It ended up tasting very floury despite following directions to the letter, so I added milk at the end to balance it out and make it less dense (the thicker cut vegetables could be to blame for this too). Definitely will make again, if only to keep husband happy.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
I have a big dinner once a month at my house and needed something easy that would feed a lot of people, so I tried this. I put it in at midnight and when I went to turn it around at 10 am, it all fell apart on me, so I shredded the whole thing (it was shredding on its own by that point) and put it back in. So delicious and easy and pretty cheap! I used regular sea salt since I didn't have anything else and it was totally fine. I like it salty but nobody said it was too salty. I did add a little extra smoke after shredding it and putting it back in the crockpot.

Cream Soup Base

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
This is a great base that I have used for adding leftover vegetables or whatever I had on hand to it to "recycle" meals we wouldn't eat otherwise. ("Recycle" sounds so gross when talking about dinner!) I added my leftovers Cajun Chicken Pasta (also on AllRecipes) we weren't going to eat and made Cajun Chicken Noodle Soup. Possibilities are endless! :)

This was REALLY good, I never would have thought to use pineapple juice, but it was great.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I have been making this for a couple years now and every time I make it several people ask for the recipe. Funny when people realize how effortless it is. I make chocolate cream cheese frosting to go with it on the side and warn people to try a bite by itself before adding frosting. It doesn't need any sort of glaze or anything unless for looks. I usually put twice the pudding in it though. It started out on accident and found it is spongier that way.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
This was SO delicious! We didn't have any milk (how is that even possible?) so I used half and half instead. Wow! It was so rich but SO good. Wouldn't change a thing about it.

Cara's Creamy Stuffed Shells

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
My only modification is to use a pound of Italian sausage and a pound of ground beef. So delicious. It makes a lot of filling and I always end up eating about a cup of the filling by itself. It's just too good! But with the leftover filling, I will usually cook up some angel hair and mix it all together while it's still warm. This is so good.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I have been making a recipe just like this forever. I hate the taste of canned chicken so we usually use the real thing, and I usually put pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar. It's awesome.

Chicken Enchilada Casserole I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
We liked it but the processed cheese overpowered everything. My husband and I called this nacho casserole because that's exactly what it tastes like. You couldn't taste any other flavors except the cheese and chicken. We might make it again but will have to tweak it per some of the other reviews.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Pretty much loved it. With that said, there wasn't really anything *super special* about it, but a very good basic lasagna recipe. Also, everything held together really well, and it wasn't too soupy and not at all dry. I took another review's advice and put it in the fridge overnight and baked it the next day. This seemed to be the trick of helping all the ingredients blend well. Otherwise I think it would have tasted too separate, if that makes sense.

Amatriciana

Pretty dang good. Next time I would like to add more bacon and maybe some shrimp. But it was a simple recipe that turned out surprisingly flavorful. We didn't add any salt or pepper either.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
My favorite Mexican restaurant makes something similar to this and I could not find a copycat of it to save my life. Until this one. I sliced the chicken because that's what they do at the restaurant, and I doubled everything except the chicken and spices. It was still very spicy, but very, very good. Will be making it again.

Hamburger Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I stirred in about half a cup of sour cream to the mix to add a little bit of flavor and served it over mashed new potatoes. I am pregnant and too much flavor in any direction makes me nauseous. I liked it but probably won't after baby is born. My husband grew up eating it and thought it was fantastic. No matter how much salt we added, it still didn't taste all that astounding, but for a total of five ingredients, who is going to complain?

Tiffany's Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
I made it and put it over rice. It was fast and easy! This will likely go in my rotation just based on how easy it is to throw together. :) And if you live near an IKEA, their meatballs are great for this. My two year old even loved it!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
Only giving this three because as directed on here, it was not great. I added green peppers and sliced mushrooms, sauteed with the bacon and added 3 more eggs. Even with the extra ingredients, it was WAAAAAAAAAAAY too cheesy, and I am pretty much in love with cheese. Next time I'll decrease the amount of cheese and add even more vegetables than I did this time, definitely not a heart healthy recipe. :)

Chicken Salad Wraps

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
There wasn't really anything WOW about this. I added shredded cheese and used buffalo ranch dressing instead of mayo. It was good but nothing to sneeze at.
