Cream Soup Base

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
This is a great base that I have used for adding leftover vegetables or whatever I had on hand to it to "recycle" meals we wouldn't eat otherwise. ("Recycle" sounds so gross when talking about dinner!) I added my leftovers Cajun Chicken Pasta (also on AllRecipes) we weren't going to eat and made Cajun Chicken Noodle Soup. Possibilities are endless! :)

Slow Cooker Cheesy Tortellini

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Husband was IN LOVE with this (as I made it with modifications) and keeps asking when I will make it again. I used a pound of sausage and skipped the beef. I added a bag of spinach and doubled the tortellini. I baked it at 350 for 30 minutes instead of slow cooking it. I was afraid the tortellini would turn to mush if I cooked it for several hours.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Pretty much loved it. With that said, there wasn't really anything *super special* about it, but a very good basic lasagna recipe. Also, everything held together really well, and it wasn't too soupy and not at all dry. I took another review's advice and put it in the fridge overnight and baked it the next day. This seemed to be the trick of helping all the ingredients blend well. Otherwise I think it would have tasted too separate, if that makes sense.

Divine Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
This was definitely better the second day, but not great ever. I think the problem with it is that it relied too heavily on seasonings, whereas the recipe I usually make uses a lot more vegetables and has more natural flavor.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I have been making a recipe just like this forever. I hate the taste of canned chicken so we usually use the real thing, and I usually put pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar. It's awesome.

Pork Chops Smothered in Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2014
SO good! So much more flavorful than all the cream of mushroom soup recipes I had to sift through to find one that used whole ingredients. For anyone saying that the recipe was too bland and who added cream of mushroom soup, you would get the same effect by adding a cup of salt to the recipe. Yuck. There's no creativity in using those soups, and they are NOT AT ALL healthy. Loved that this was a whole ingredient recipe without any poison added. (No, I'm not brainwashed, just like to know what I'm putting in my body.) We put the extra gravy over garlic mashed potatoes although I probably could have just eaten it with a spoon when no one was looking. :) The only things I changed: I used real garlic added with the onions instead of powder or garlic salt, and extra mushrooms, because we're kind of obsessed with them here.

Better Slow Cooker Robust Chicken

I did not care for this recipe. It was way too sour.

California Chicken Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
this is one of my favorite go-to recipes because it is uncomplicated and relatively few ingredients. one thing i have found has ruined it is using canned tomatoes. resist the urge! :) i use different pasta depending on what i have on hand. i usually make it with penne though. sounds disgusting, but is actually good as a cold salad the next day. and when i make it for company i leave the feta out and let people add as little or as much as they'd like, it's one of those finnicky cheeses. :)

Slow Cooker Egg Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2014
I've made this for the past several years for Christmas breakfast. It is great but it does taste best the next day as leftovers. The only change I have made over the years is use 2 packages of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage instead of bacon. When I do this, I can use different flavors of bacon and skip the dill. The dill is a little off putting to some.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
I have a big dinner once a month at my house and needed something easy that would feed a lot of people, so I tried this. I put it in at midnight and when I went to turn it around at 10 am, it all fell apart on me, so I shredded the whole thing (it was shredding on its own by that point) and put it back in. So delicious and easy and pretty cheap! I used regular sea salt since I didn't have anything else and it was totally fine. I like it salty but nobody said it was too salty. I did add a little extra smoke after shredding it and putting it back in the crockpot.

Chicken Enchilada Casserole I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
We liked it but the processed cheese overpowered everything. My husband and I called this nacho casserole because that's exactly what it tastes like. You couldn't taste any other flavors except the cheese and chicken. We might make it again but will have to tweak it per some of the other reviews.

Amatriciana

Pretty dang good. Next time I would like to add more bacon and maybe some shrimp. But it was a simple recipe that turned out surprisingly flavorful. We didn't add any salt or pepper either.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
Only giving this three because as directed on here, it was not great. I added green peppers and sliced mushrooms, sauteed with the bacon and added 3 more eggs. Even with the extra ingredients, it was WAAAAAAAAAAAY too cheesy, and I am pretty much in love with cheese. Next time I'll decrease the amount of cheese and add even more vegetables than I did this time, definitely not a heart healthy recipe. :)

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
My favorite Mexican restaurant makes something similar to this and I could not find a copycat of it to save my life. Until this one. I sliced the chicken because that's what they do at the restaurant, and I doubled everything except the chicken and spices. It was still very spicy, but very, very good. Will be making it again.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I have been making this for a couple years now and every time I make it several people ask for the recipe. Funny when people realize how effortless it is. I make chocolate cream cheese frosting to go with it on the side and warn people to try a bite by itself before adding frosting. It doesn't need any sort of glaze or anything unless for looks. I usually put twice the pudding in it though. It started out on accident and found it is spongier that way.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2014
When I was telling my husband the ingredients I needed for this, he said, "It sounds like the island of misfit food." None of the ingredients together sound like they would be very good, but after the first bite, he said, "OH WOW." And that's what this is. So so so so good. There are lots of flavors without tasting like too much or overwhelming and my recently picky three year old ate it too! Definitely going on the list again. For the salt, just get low sodium I think. We like salt so maybe that's why it wasn't a big deal but we used low sodium ranch and teriyaki with only whole ingredients. That usually makes a difference.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2014
So easy. We did sauté the chicken in salt, pepper, garlic, and onion before using it and I'm glad because otherwise as directed the recipe would have been waaaay too bland. But it's a good recipe for a very basic chicken noodle soup.

Chicken Baseballs

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2014
Granted it's not the most flavorful recipe ever... but for something quick that picky kids will eat, this definitely fits the bill. Also, my husband loved it. My three year old had two! So success. Definitely melt the cream cheese and butter together then add sautéed onions and seasonings, then chicken. Use 2 crescent roll tubes and put triangles together to make squares. The chicken will fit in the squares better and it will look tons better too. I had extra filling and put it in wraps with some romaine for lunch the next day, just ate then cold. Yum!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2014
This is a pretty good comfort fall weather food. I used chicken broth instead of water because I had no bouillon on hand. I also used a ladle and mashed some of the potatoes in the soup with it so it was even creamier. Will make again because we love chunky creamy soups that don't rely on processed ingredients or salty seasonings but are flavorful on their own. :)
