About this Cook
My name is Melissa, and I love anything creative. Art, photography, cooking, and writing are all passions of mine. I just recently found this site and fell in love with several of the recipes. You can visit my cooking and fashion blog at http://www.http://thecornergirl.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
asian dishes, meats, seafood, desserts, beverages.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's cookies, stuffing, soups, and bruchetta are amazing. My grandma's eggs, salisbury steak, and salmon patties were my favorite childhood treats. My fiance's sauces are amazing. His peach bourbon sauce with shrimp and scallops is heavenly. His unique and wonderful tomato sauce is great on every kind of meat! My dad's beef jerky and sugar toast make my belly happy.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I cook, I learn something, so every time I cook is a triumph!

Bruschetta al Pomodoro
My family and I have been making bruchetta like this for quite a while now, and we love it! Something that makes the recipe absolutely heavenly is adding fresh mozzerella in with the diced tomatoes, salt, and basil, and tossing together before spooning onto the bread to bake. I recommend using a crusty bread for this recipe so that the tomatoes don't make the bread soggy. DON'T let it set out before cooking. Make sure you watch the time carefully. Just as it is turning golden brown edges, that's when it is the most succulent.

Shieldzini
I am on a pre-wedding diet and have been needing a way to make my vegetables more appealing. I modified the recipe slightly by adding a little less soy sauce. I also grated some fresh ginger, added pink and white pepper, substituted Stevia instead of sugar, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and added a small amount of strawberries pureed with agar-agar, which gave it more color and some additional flavor & substance. I really enjoyed this recipe!

The Best Thai Peanut Sauce
Oh my God...I made this sauce for a rice, chicken, and scallops dish for my fiance for supper. It was the best flavor I have ever had save for a few select sauces my honey and I came up with together. You are amazing and I am grateful forever to you for this amazing recipe!!!
