I'm living in Russia as a missionary and an English teacher. It's been quite an experience to learn how to live in other country and culture, how to speak the language, go shopping, cook their food. Even cleaning the house is done differently. I'll never take paper towels for granted again. :) I've grown more enriched in every way and wouldn't trade it for anything.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything with pasta. I also enjoy baking since my mom is the ultimate baker and we've bake together quite a bit. I've learned a lot from her.
Since I live in another country, I usually use recipes that start from stratch and have very basic ingredients. I really appreciate the option on allrecipes to switch to the Metric system.
My cooking tragedies
The funniest cooking tragedy was when I was a teenager and cooking for some friends. There was a boy there that I liked and I really wanted to impress him with my baking skills. I mixed the coookie dough, rolled them into balls on a cookie sheet, then put them in the oven. I was so surprised a few minutes later to see them flattening out to make one large cookie. It was then I realized I had forgotten to add flour. I think I was a little too nervous. He still liked me back, despite that experience, but it still didn't work out.
