I substituted the green beans with a package of fresh mushrooms, and I used a can of imported, Italian crushed tomatoes. The results are very nice. This is a great base recipe.
MARCH 2015-This is my go-to recipe for staying slender... especially after a long winter and an indulgent holiday season. I use this recipe as a base. It's great. I add different vegetables each time. This time, I used two green peppers, one red pepper, one large daikon, two boxes of Pomi tomatoes, onions, soup mix, mushrooms, and cabbage. Blend it to make it more edible. You can drink it, too! Put in some hot sauce to give it a little zing. This is a very satisfying vegetable stew. I've been making it for decades.
