Wintertime French Style Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
this was wonderful! i used curry powder in place of the turmeric and a no-salt blend in place of the herbes de provence, just due to what i had on hand in my pantry...it might seem like a lot of liquid, but the way the potato and peas break down into it thicken it so much that without the high liquid content, it would get too thick and scorch. have made it twice now and look forward to making it again!

Wintertime French Style Spllt Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2013
a very simple, delicious soup. i made some very minor adjustments, only due to what i had in my pantry. i used a commercial prepared curry powder in place of the turmeric and did not have herbs de provence, so i used a nice greek herb mix i have. there are some similar notes to each and the substitutions worked out nicely. the cayenne pepper is a nice touch, especially this time of year. it's great just the way it is, and would also be nice finished off with some cream, or garnished with creme fresh or sour cream.
