About this Cook
I have two kids with different multiple food allergies, so I have to do alot of creative substitution with the recipes on this site.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, we use the bread machine several times a week. Several recipes on this site have been a huge help once tweaked to our allergies... no dairy, egg, beef, seeds, nuts, peanuts, shellfish or fish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Letting the menfolks cook LOL!
My cooking triumphs
Decided to learn to cook in my thirties after many years of successfully dialing for takeout.... signed up for Cooking 101 thru local Adult Ed. Turned out to be Introduction to French Gourmet Cooking, I didn't even know how to boil water LOL but managed to finish the course with only a few burns and cuts.
My cooking tragedies
One of my first attempts to make meat involved making a roast. Never having made more than Ramen, I bought a foil pan and followed each word of the recipe on the turkey wrapper. Being very literal minded I put my thermometer into the bird and it promptly melted and ruined the entire turkey.... I used my outside window thermometer - the only one I owned.

Caramel Brownies III
Substituted vegetable oil for part of butter when I ran out and substituted German Chocolate for chips when I ran out. I only had half the caramels and it turned out just fine. Its a great recipe, a little rich when I follow it exactly but very forgiving of substitutions. I had to bake an extra ten minutes.

Sky High Yorkshire Pudding
All it needed was a little touch of salt in the batter.
