Paula's Bread Sticks

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
These were amazing. I followed the recipe exactly but without a bread machine. I divided the dough into 16 parts. For 2 of the parts, I flattened them into rounds & stuffed them with cooked ground beef& onions & some mozzarella cheese (I only did 2 as a trial) they turned out great. Half way through baking, I brushed the top with a mixture of butter, olive oil & garlic herb mix. It would probably work great with any stuffing sort of like a calzone!!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
This tasted great but I had a problem with it being too runny & melting. I took some of the advice of other reviewers & I made half a batch and used half crisco & half butter. I'll try it with all crisco next time.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: May 11, 2012
Great recipe. They are creamy and they taste great, but to make sure the cheesecakes dont sink in the middle after removing from the oven, I always use a water bath. I made them a few times. Last time I made them, I decided to make them without the water bath and surely enough they sunk. I'll keep making them with the water bath.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
This chicken was ok. It needed more flavour and a longer cooking time to be cooked enough to fall off the bone. I would add garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, thyme & seasoned salt if I try again. But as for the recipe as is, it was just ok.

Indian Chapati Bread

Reviewed: May 4, 2012
This was really good. I halved the recipe but made it into 8 chapatis. I used Durum Atta Flour to make it more authentic. You can usually find this flour in the international section at the supermarket. Make sure you knead really well till the dough is soft. Also to make it more authentic, after making the chapati I lightly sprayed them with canola oil (you can use melted butter or ghee) and rubbed them together.

Delicious !! I sliced the chicken and marinated as per recipe but omitted the lemon juice and added greek seasonings. Made a simple tzatziki sause with diced cucumber, greek yogert, lemon juice, greek seasonins, garlic, salt & olive oil. I also made a greek salad & served it on white rice.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
Its amazing how such simple ingredients can have this kind of outcome. These were really tasty. I halved the recipe but only used 1/2 a stick of butter (1/4 cup) and it came out great and crispy on the outside and a little gooey on the bottom. I used 7-up and poured it in the pan without pouring it over the dumplings. I would be making this again

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
This is really good. I made a few additions. I added garlic herb powder & half a finely chopped onion to the meat mixture. I browned the meat balls in a little olive oil because I wanted to eliminate the extra grease from the meat to get in the soup. I drained the meatballs on paper towel. I sauteed the other half of the finely chopped onion in a little olive oil, added 1 cup of carrots, added 6 cups of water and 1.5 cubes of bouillon (one chicken and half beef), then I added frozen spinach and let it simmer. I finally added cooked pasta at the end and let it sit for a bit to let the pasta soak some of the flavor. Great recipe.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Great recipe. I made it almost exactly as recipe. I used montreal steak spice instead of the italian dressing mix and also added a few dashes of allspice & cinnamon to the water. I did what others suggested: shred the beef and put back in liquid about an hour before time was up & also used spices for a 5lb roast but only used a 2.5 lb roast in my recipe. I put the beef on open hoagie rolls, topped with mozzarella & a sprinkle of oregano. Toasted it in the oven while open to melt the cheese. Tasted amazing. Thanks for a great recipe.

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Delicious ! Everything turned out perfect. I added a handful of mozza cheese to the filling and also sprinkled some more on top at the last 5 min of cooking. The only changes I made was to cut down on the bouillon to 1 cube and it was still too salty so I made another batch of the white sauce without any bouillon and mixed them together, it turned out perfect. Next time I will only use half a cube. I will be making this again and again. Thanks for sharing.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake V

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
Amazing cake. This is the first time I make a pineapple upsidedown cake & it turned out great. The only change I made was to make it as one cake in a 9x13 glass dish and also used two 14oz cans of pineapple slices which was enough to cover bottom and sides of dish. It looks very pretty too. Would be great for company.
