Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Turned out very nice. I added a 1/4tsp of salt with the dry ingredients. after mixing I rolled into a log shape in plastic wrap and refrigerated the dough for an hour, then sliced the cookies from the log then pressed the top of the slice in sugar before baking.

Bagels II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
Outstanding! I am originally from New York and am a bagel snob... I have tried a number of bagel recipes over the years and have never found one that was NY bagel-like... until now. The texture is spot on... crusty outside and chewy inside. I followed the recipe, however I used brown sugar instead of white sugar, and only ended up using 6 cups of flour... 4 cups white flour and 2 cups whole wheat, used my kitchenaid mixer and let it knead for 15 minutes. Followed the rising and proofing and boiling instructions then set my oven to 425 degrees, first because my oven runs hot and two because at 500 degrees my smoke alarm goes off... :) I placed a pan of hot water on the bottom shelf of the oven before preheating which created great steam for baking then baked for 10 minutes, turned them over and baked an additional 10 minutes. Turned out perfectly!!! I highly recommend this recipe for authentic bagels.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
I did not like this recipe at all. Made it for Thanksgiving and no one could finish a slice... Could only fit six Granny Smiths into the pie, but I had cut all eight so I save the last two with some of the juice in the freezer thinking I could make a tart later, but the pie was not sweet enough, way too tart and the sugar and butter mixture turned to caramel while baking and hardened after it cooled. I wont be making this pie again even if I tried it with different apples and sweetened it more, I just really disliked the hardened caramel with every bite.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
OMG... these cinnamon rolls are amazing! I have been looking for a more cake like roll then a bread like roll and this is it! All the other recipes I have tried yielded a denser bread like consistency. I used the entire box of vanilla pudding mix and only mixed the dough enough to form a ball then let it rise for about 1 1/2 hours before rolling the dough out, and filling with the cinnamon mixture. After cutting into pieces I let them rise another 1 1/2 hours in the pans before baking. My oven runs hot so I set the temp to 340 degrees and baked for only 14 minutes and they turned out perfectly.

Cinnabun Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
Awesome recipe! I used all butter instead of 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening, but other then that I followed the directions. Brought them to a holiday party and after I got home they called for the recipe. Everybody loved them!

Classic Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
The rolls turned out beautifully, light tender crumb. I proofed my yeast with the water and sugar before adding the other ingredients, mixing it by hand and not with a mixer, I also used half all-purpose flour and half bread flour. I only had active yeast, not the rapid rise, so I allowed an hour or so for the first rise, then gently formed a log and cut 12 pieces with my bench scraper and loosely placed them in the cake pan then let them rise another hour. Love the way they turned out, next time I will add a bit more salt, but other then that wonderful!
