Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
This one is good! Kept the pre-dipped balls in the freezer for a few hours before coating with chocolate. The costs vs. output is a bit disappointing which is why the four stars.

Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2013
This recipe is much better with a tad less baking soda and salt and an addition of vanilla. Good starter recipe! This is what I was looking for since I was out of the box mix and didn't want to detour too far from the boxed flavor because of my picky kids. Yes, they ate it!

Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
I love this recipe! I don't eat beef and my husband sometimes regrets this because we eat a lot of chicken and turkey. Fortunately, this recipe for gourmet burgers is a great change of pace for us. Mark this as the first meal our entire family ate (including my six month-old). Juicy, easy, great flavor. The only alteration I made was I coated these in flour and slightly cooked them on a flat top before throwing on the grill to try and give them a crab cake-type texture. So delicious! Add as much cheese as you have or can fit on the burger :-)

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
My guests loved this but I just thought it was ok. I think that I can find a better recipe with more "zip". Though I did substitute sour cream for mayonnaise as some suggested and perhaps I shouldn't have?

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I brought this to a large holiday party and it wasn't really touched. I served this at my home, to a smaller group, and they were literally scraping the crock pot. The difference? I was able to tell my small group what it was so it became a more approachable dip. Advice? Make sure to include a small place card of some sort describing it as a rueben dip if serving to a large group. I used turkey pastrami and added more 1000 island as suggested. I didn't see a need to re-moisten with more dressing or sauerkraut juice as some suggested and my dip sat for several hours. Thanks!

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
I didn't add almond extract as some reviewers recommended, and the cookies still turned out fabulous. I am going to make this my staple cut out cookie recipe. As is, this recipe made me 5 dozen varied sized cookies. Delicious! My husband asked what I added to these to make them so addicting and he is not usually a big fan of sweets :)

Decorator Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
I love this recipe because it doesn't use shortening, yet, when set in the fridge, sets up nicely. Yes, the recipe is sweet, but it IS frosting, so I'm not sure what flavor reviewers were expecting! 5 stars from me!

Noodles Mexicana

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2012
I love this kind of recipe that you can easily alter to your tastes or what you have on hand. I used frozen corn instead of canned, ommitted the olives and omitted the green onion. I was looking for a recipe to use up some leftover taco meat. Since it was already seasoned, I didn't add another taco seasoning pack, but did add about a tsp of cumin, tbs of chili powder, a dash of garlic salt and about a 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes. Some complained that this recipe was too dry. KEEP ADDING WATER UNTIL YOU COVER THE EGG NOODLES on the final step. Uncover and reduce if you find it too soupy. Great recipe, thanks!!

Salmon Cakes II

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2012
Great recipe! I followed almost exactly except used fresh salmon (pre-cooked on the stove top) and red pepper flakes in place of the hot pepper sauce. I do agree with some reviewers that this needed a sauce for dipping, but was still good as is. It is a little tough to keep together, but if you gently use a spatula, you can keep these intact. I made these with garlic smashed red potatoes and steamed broccoli for my husband's birthday. His only complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough, but he is a hot head and I thought they were perfect!

California Smoothie

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
To be fair, I used vanilla yogurt and mixed berries so I don't know if this is a five star recipe with the ingredients listed. Good texture though a bit rich. I'll make again and maybe mix in a bit of ice.

Cheesy Hash Browns

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
These are good, but a little rich for my tastes. Next time, I may cut the creamy ingredients by 20% and use diced potatoes instead. I was surprised it was so creamy despite the use of real cheese!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
Delicious!!! I added about a 1/4 cup of sour cream to the batter before adding the berries. I used a frozen triple berry mix of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries and went heavy on the cup ;) So good! I will make these again.

Apple-Cran-Cherry Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
I omitted the cardamom (as other reviewers did) and substituted 3/4 cup white chocolate chips for 3/4 cup of the fruit. I also used a mixed dried fruit of cherries, strawberries and cranberries which worked fine. Cookies definitely need the full 12 minutes to cook. They remind me of a certain oat-brand of breakfast cookies that is made except without the hydrogenated oils. I gave them four stars because my two year old won't eat them. I was trying to find a breakfast cookie recipe that he would eat.

Vicki's Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
If you're looking to make hush puppies, this is the recipe to use. I used all-purpose flour and added a half teaspoon of baking soda. I also added a splash of milk and a 1/4 tsp of pepper to the batter. Both me and my husband said, "Tastes like a hush puppy" which I suppose is the reaction we would want.

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
I made a half batch the other day to prepare for a major cookie-cooking expenditure today. Just realized I accidentally used half the amount of butter needed and they still turned out fine! Will be making again today with the correct amount of butter. But word to the health-conscience, you can cut out some of the butter and they are STILL good :)

Robbi's M&M's® Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
Pretty good. I also substituted 2 sticks of butter for the shortening. I used a pinch less salt than called for a broke up the chocolate candies before adding them in. Overall, I gave this a four because the dough still tastes better than the cookies :)

Delicious Vegan Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
I mostly looked up this recipe to find the right measurements for basic hot cocoa...last time I tried to wing it it tasted terrible :( So...the measurements were very helpful and I made several variations. Real whole milk, a dash of vanilla coffee creamer, a cinnamon stick instead of dash of cinnamon and omitted the cayenne pepper and only a dash of salt. Basically, we all make our own tweaks to a recipe :) Turned out great!!

Fajita Marinade I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Delicious, easy marinade! I marinated chicken and shrimp (separately of course) in this marinade and both turned out great. I left out the liquid smoke and kept everything else the same. Will definitely make again and again!
