Doo Dah Day!
About this Cook
I am a Southern girl who says "y'all" more than Paula Deen! I am very proud of my "Southerness". I love to take recipes and personalize them more for me and my family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook appetizers! I know that sounds weird, but I just love appetizers! I also like to take recipes and "southernize" them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook with my son. He is not a typical "chicken finger and boxed macaroni and cheese" type of guy. He loves to make desserts, no surprise there!
My cooking triumphs
My own personal recipes of Shrimp and Black Bean Chili and for Southwestern Ribeyes with Smoked Gouda Grits.
My cooking tragedies
I made a broccoli casserole 27 years ago and to this day can not figure out why it tasted like a pickle casserole!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie
I used about 3/4 cup of sugar and I used Kahlua instead of bourbon. I also did as the other reviewers said and put the chips on the bottom of the crust. The pecans, of course, went to the top and the chocolate chips made a layer underneath the pecans! Outstanding! I made it for one of the teacher's birthdays and it was gone almost before we finished singing Happy Birthday!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II
Very tender and tasty. I used onion powder instead of garlic powder, but used 4 cloves of garlic. I also used more chicken broth to cover the chops and added half more of the dry ingredients. I was at the pool and did not want to come in and turn the chops! I removed the chops when they were finished, placed the liquid in a saucepan, boiled for a few minutes and added a cornstarch water slurry to thicken. Served with sweet and sour green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. Yummy!

Jam Filled Butter Cookies
I added 1/4 tsp. of salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. I rolled the balls in regular sugar and then made the indention and added blueberry jam to half and raspberry to the other half. I did not have any problems with the dough since I made sure the butter and egg yolks were at room temp. Thanks MKHG for sharing your recipe!
