Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This was the first apple pie that I ever made and it is fantastic! I made it for Easter dinner and it was a hit with everyone, even my picky 4 year old. I followed the recipe exactly and had no problems. I was afraid that the apples might not coat evenly, but they came out perfectly. The topping is great because it camouflages a not quite perfect lattice work crust. I will definitely be making this again! Just be sure to put something underneath the pie, it will drip in the oven.

Chinese Cabbage Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
Great salad, I made it for a birthday party and everyone loved it! I halved the sugar, it could probably even use less. I substituted walnuts and rice vinegar because that's what I had on hand. Next time I think I will try it with some sesame oil, as another reviewer suggested!

Oatmeal Carmelitas

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Very tasty recipe, not too sweet. I doubled the recipe and should have cut down on the butter. It was literally pooling on top of the bottom layer after the pre-bake and I used a paper towel to get some of it off! I followed suggestions and did not melt the butter. I also used suger-free caramel topping because that was all they had at the store. The doubled recipe cooked in 22 minutes in a glass dish. It set very well and was easy to cut after cooling in the fridge.

Vegetable Pizza I

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2003
Good, easy-to-make recipe! I used refrigerated pizza dough instead of crescent dough, it doesn't need to be rolled, just pressed into the pan. I followed the suggestions and used 1 package of cream cheese and 1/2 packet of the ranch dressing. I used lower-fat mayo, though I think the mayo could probably be halved too. I used a 15 x 10 pan and there was plenty of sauce. Mine was going to sit in the fridge for awhile and I was afraid of sogginess from the tomato, so i used chopped red pepper instead so I could still get the red color in there!

Smothered Meatballs

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
I don't really care for the sauce in this recipe at all, but the meatballs are fantastic! Like another reviewer, I make the meatballs for spaghetti.

Creamy Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
These are very easy to make and they are tasty - my husband really likes them. He likes to heat the leftovers in the microwave and take it with him for a to-go breakfast! As another reviewer noted, there is way too much filling if you follow the recipe.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
This is a very good recipe, but I would recommend using less sugar. I used less than the recipe stated but still had comments that it was too sweet. I used a raspberry wine vinegar and it turned out delicious.

Anytime Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
I don't usually like "fluff" types of salad but this recipe sounded very intriguing. I made it for a Mother's Day brunch and it was a hit! My father-in-law said that it was the only fluff he ever had that he liked!

These are absolutely delicious! Like another reviewer, I brushed the skins with the olive oil. They're great paired with chili!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: May 17, 2003
This is one of my favorite recipes of all time! I make this almost every week since it 's quick and easy and I almost always have all the ingredients on hand. I use Chinese wheat noodles from the Asian grocery store. I also use chunky peanut butter instead of crushing peanuts. I have also added bean sprouts and carrots. Delicious!

Delmonico Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2001
I made this for our Christmas dinner because it was easy to make. I was a little unsure about it because of the processed cheese and frozen potatoes, but everyone loved it!
