Death by Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2014
Great - was concerned that the filling was a touch runny, so added some chocolate pudding (1/2 a pkg) to the filling. Turned out nicely.

We like this. Definitely not a "runny" filling. Tasted good.

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2014
We love lots of cinnamon, so we really liked this. I used white sugar instead of brown (didn't have brown) and lemon juice instead of water. Turned out beautifully.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

These were good. Watch timing closely, as easy to dry out if over baked.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2014
Didn't use the onion soup mix, but instead used 1 c. of water, a couple tbsp. of butter under the skin of the turkey, poultry seasoning, oregano, sage, and basil plus some garlic, on the skin. Cut up an onion to go on top. This really was a very moist and delicious turkey recipe!

Toum

Worked well for us. I blended this in my Magic Bullet. I did add a bit of Safflower oil, which seemed to help thicken this mixture up. I only had to add a few tsps.

Pumpkin Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Pretty Good. I actually used the brownie recipe for "Best Brownies" on this site (because I always have great luck with it and we LOVE it). Also, after reading the reviews, a lot of people mentioned they had difficulty swirling the two batters together and I didn't have any trouble doing this with the Best Brownie batter. I doubled the ingredients, except for the cocoa. Added 1/2 c. of pumpkin puree to the half of the batter that did not have the cocoa in it and pumpkin pie spice. Swirled together in the pan. Turned out well. I believe this is a 5 star recipe for those who love pumpkin and chocolate together. I gave 4 stars because we didn't absolutely "love" the combo. However, this is a nice, moist brownie with a pumpkin flavour, if you don't "over-swirl" your two batters together.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2014
Great Recipe! We took some of the other reviewers' suggestions and made 3 or 4 smaller crusts (makes it easier to flip the crusts). We also cooked on a low temp setting on the BBQ and cooked our crusts on top of tinfoil, rather than directly on the grates of the BBQ. We didn't rub olive oil on the crusts, and they turned out fine. You do want to work quickly when putting on the toppings, having everything ready to go. We pre-cooked most of our toppings, which we highly recommend as it doesn't take the crust long to cook. We used homemade pizza sauce, pre-shredded mozzarella, pre-cooked chicken (cubed), raw spinach leaves, fresh basil leaves, and caramelized onions/garlic. Thanks for a great recipe, Doug!

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2014
This was okay. Not the best I've ever had (not "zingy" enough), but a solid recipe and non-offensive. It does get a tad runny; just drain some of the liquid off.

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2014
This was okay for us. I made the dough as suggested, and thinned out the bread in the center and made a little hole in the centre of each round as well. I made this into 10 smaller fry breads based on reviews claiming these were huge--I'd make the smaller breads again, if I make this again. There was nothing wrong with the recipe, just wasn't "special" to us. The fry breads covered in sugar and cinnamon were a big hit though. Thanks for the recipe!

Tom's Down To The Bone Pork Chops!

Really good. I used Montreal Chicken seasoning and added a tsp each of onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and 1/2 tsp. of oregano to the mayo. Nice flavour, moist pork chop.

Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2014
This was good. I used fresh green beans (because they needed used up) and microwaved them for approx. 5 minutes. Then made the casserole as suggested (except I forgot the bacon until half way through, so I microwaved my bacon until it was half cooked, and added it on top of the beans in the oven). This was enjoyable; my husband quite liked it and I thought it was pretty good, considering I don't like cooked green beans as a rule.

Choco Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
We really liked these. Didn't do the drizzle, but did add 1/2 c. pb chips based on reviewers suggestions that the batter was not peanut buttery enough. Added 1 1/2 cup choc chips to the batter also- really delicious.

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
We really loved this marinade on our chicken thighs! Grilling the meat creates a nice caramelized/sticky coating on the chicken, making it super yummy! I didn't expect to like this marinade as much as we did--definitely going to be repeated in our house often. Also, the leftovers taste just as yummy the next day! Thanks for the recipe.

Angel Cake Surprise

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
Awesome...I did make slight changes because I needed the base ingredients/recipe to replicate a similar dish I had at a party on the weekend. I used all of the amounts called for and used everything as I was supposed to except I switched out the fruit and the type of gelatin. I used a peach flavoured gelatin and kept the can of sliced peaches but added a can of fruit cocktail in place of the fresh bananas and pineapple. Still really tasty!!! I also used fat-free or light pudding, gelatin, and whipped topping. Yumm-o!
