All-Natural No-Bake Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
Yep, pretty good. They do taste more like dark chocolate, as another reviewer commented. I found these plenty sweet, so I might cut back just a touch on the honey next time. I also added more 1/2 c. more oats.

Delicious Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
Really delicious. I did 9 mins under the broiler (on HI - my oven). Not too salty, nice light sweet note to the fish, and nicely flakey. Cooked this skin side up and the skin just peeled off when finished baking. Beautiful!

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2014
Made for a potluck for 10 people. Read reviews and only made slight changes based on recommendations to the dressing (3/4 c. light mayo, 3/4-1 c. of 5% sour cream, and 1/3 c. of ranch dressing. Kept the parmesan cheese and sugar in the recipe - though used maybe 1 tbsp. of sugar). Used a prewashed bag of iceberg lettuce (with other veggies in it). Layered 1/2 of dressing on bottom of bowl, then salad, then onion, bacon, shredded cheese, and peas(didn't use cauliflower). Put another layer of dressing on, followed by salad and lighter amounts of onion, bacon, peas and cheese on top. Because this was a salad that was going to be eaten by different staff over the course of two breaks and refrigerated in between the breaks, I decided to put dressing on the bottom of the bowl, hoping that there would be enough dressing left on the salad for those coming in for it second break. Thanks for the recipe--they devoured it!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2014
This was okay. Used the recipe to make mini cupcakes. I did increase the milk to 3/4 c, per other reviewers' suggestion. The mix was a little crumbly, rather than moist. Still tasted great, just not quite what I was after. Could have been operator error, as I had skim milk, rather than whole. Would try this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Lemon Cupcakes

Nice cupcake. Increased the lemon juice a bit, based on other reviewers suggestions. Fairly moist and not too crumbly. I used a different frosting. Thanks for the recipe.

Chocolate Beer Cupcakes With Whiskey Filling And Irish Cream Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2014
Oh my goodness! So delicious, moist, and full of chocolatey yumminess. Made the batter as directed. Made the chocolate filling as directed. The frosting was made with a maple liqeur, as I didn't have Irish Cream, but it was fantastic. Thank you for an amazing recipe!

Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2014
Really good recipe. Honestly doesn't need the butter. Made this a second time with no butter. Halved the recipe because makes a lot of sauce. Was awesome with lean sausage.

Truly Delicious Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Really simple, yet really delicious. Nice little zing from the lemon juice. I did cook this for 2-3 minutes in the frying pan to suit our tastes. Served with scalloped potatoes and cottage roll (ham).

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2013
Really nice soup. Didn't have spinach, so left it out, but still really nice flavour. I used 2 tbsp. of flour rather than cornstarch to thicken the soup. Added a bay leaf to the soup while simmering.

Wedding Gift Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
We love this spaghetti sauce recipe. I usually just make the sauce, omitting the meat and make Meatball Nirvana recipe for the meatballs. This recipe is great as-is, but is also so versatile, that I now usually make it with the tomato puree and two large cans of San Marzano tomatoes, coarsely chopped. I sometimes skip adding the tomato paste and adjust the water amount to 1/3 of the amount called for. Just awesome!

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
My ex-MIL made a similar recipe that I used to love. I thought I'd give this a try. It was okay, but honestly, made it as is and found it WAY too sweet. I would make this again, but cut way back on the sugar - maybe 1/2 the amount. I also found this to be a lot of dressing for the number of potatoes the recipe calls for. Next time, I will reserve a portion of the mayo/dressing mixture, or just cut the recipe in half. I believe this has potential, just too sweet for us.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
Amazing - flavourful and moist! We didn't make this into kabobs; rather, marinated whole chicken breasts for 2-3 hours in the marinade and grilled the chicken breasts whole. So fabulous. I did cut back on the olive oil per other reviewers suggestions but kept everything else the same. It makes a lot of marinade, so you could do a few more chicken breasts than the recipe calls for--just make sure you coat well and recoat once or twice during marinating period. Will definitely make this again!!!!

No-Bake Chocolate Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2013
I have the exact same recipe (amounts and product) at home; only difference is that you should boil the milk/butter/sugar mixture (I add the cocoa after, but that's preference and I use butter instead of margarine) for 4-5 minutes. You need to move SUPER quickly when dropping these on wax paper, as the mixture will harden quickly once the oats/coconut (and chocolate, in my case) are added. I don't find them gooey at all, and have been making this recipe this way for years (it was my grandmother's recipe). Give it a try, they are soooo good!

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2013
We really enjoyed this. I did add some lean ground pork sausages (casings removed) to the hamburger mixture. Everything else made as is. Such a good meatball recipe. Paired this with the Best Marinara Sauce Yet recipe by Jackie.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
We really enjoyed this recipe. I did take the advice of Naples 34102 (one of the first, most helpful/positive reviews) and followed her modifications when I made this. (Mashed the banana instead of sliced it, used the extra flour, added some lemon juice, and used baking soda and powder). I doubled the recipe with no problem. Thanks for a tasty Banana Bread!

Grandmother's Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: May 28, 2013
This recipe is fantastic! I only put in 1 cup of brown and 1 cup of white sugar (ran out of brown), but the recipe was lots sweet enough. I also pre-toasted my coconut in the oven before adding to the cookie dough. Cooking time seemed okay. Thanks for the recipe. (I added chocolate chips and raisins to the dough, and this still turned out great.

Best Baked French Fries

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
We liked these. I sprayed canola cooking oil on the potatoes then seasoned them. I did add chili pepper and onion powder to teh fries. The outsides crisped up nicely and the insides were soft and yummy. Will definitely make these again.

Love this - exactly how we make it at home, except I heaped on more shaved corned beef. It's also great dipped in yellow mustard!
