I have been cooking and baking since a young age. I worked in restaurants and with a caterer for years and have learned a lot. If I wasn't loving my current job so much, I would likely try to run/own a restaurant. I like to make people happy with food!
My favorite things to cook
Everything! I especially love to make cakes and other desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember watching my mother and my grandmother cook and getting to help. When I was little, we would go to my grandmother and grandfather's house at least three times per week, but Sundays were always our big meal together as a whole family unit. I remember a lot of our cooking traditions stemmed around playing board games and cards at the kitchen table, while dinner simmered away! My grandmother would always bake cakes with me and my cousin when we would ask--there was always a fight over who got to lick the bowl. I look back at this now and think that that was probably a pretty gross thing to share. LOL!
My cooking triumphs
Desserts! I am usually pretty successful when making most desserts.
My cooking tragedies
Bread is my arch-enemy! No matter how hard I try to bake bread, I am rarely ever successful. However, I am picking up tips and tricks here on the Buzz, so hopefully this will improve. I remember being 12 years old and making a brick, er, loaf of cheesy/herb bread. Turned out to be the stuff that hockey pucks are made of. But darn it, my mother refused to throw it out and attempted to make me feel good by eating some of it!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce
We liked this a lot. I didn't have much cream, so needed a recipe I could adapt to make an alfredo sauce. Great in a pinch! I didn't add any milk, just approx. 3/4 c. of cream and 1/4 c. of butter.

Crispy Chipotle Roasted Smashed Potatoes
We loved this, however, I did omit the chipotles. Just used the sea salt and a bit of pepper. Really good. Served with lemon/garlic asparagus and filet mignon recipe from Skinnytaste.

Banana Cake VI
This was a good cake. You do need to freeze it immediately to keep the moisture in the cake. I made into cupcakes, which were really nice. I didn't use this frosting recipe.
