Breakfast Tortilla

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
I followed the recipe as directed. It was delicious! It was quick and easy to make when you are short on time. I've made it twice. The second time I made it, I decided to add more salsa because I loved the spicyness. This is a great recipe! I'll definitely make it again and again! JAN 2011 UPDATE: I make this A LOT. Now I add some shredded cheddar cheese on top of the egg as it cook (after u put the beans in). It's delicious!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious. I have done this recipe quite a few times since I found it. It is definitely a recipe I am keeping to feed my family. I'd recommend others to try it. Oh, and I did let the batter sit a while and got nice, fluffy pancakes.

Baked Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
The first time I made these, they came out a bit too brown. But my second time around, they were perfect! I did bake them @ 350 for 7MINS, then flip them so they can bake evenly, and baked them for 6MINS. Maybe it's my oven, but 8MINS makes them too brown & too crispy. I used 15 yellow corn tortillas for 2 people. As another reviewer, I brushed olive oil or veggie oil on each whole tortilla & sprinkled the spices over each....THEN I cut them into triangles. It was much easier this way. Good recipe. Thank you for sharing!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
These were absolutely delicious! I'm keeping this recipe! I've made them twice so far. 1st time: I followed the recipe exactly; however, I'll reduce the sugar (the one for coating) a BIT b/c I had some left over. I wanted it to seem like a donut so I used chocolate glaze to pour on top of the muffin. I used the glaze from this site (Sanity Chocolate Glaze). 2nd time: I really wanted to them to look like donuts so I used a measuring cup to form a circular 'cup' and poured the batter into 3 of the foil 'cups'. I didn't pour too much since they puff up. After they were done, I took them out and cut a hole in the middle of each foil muffin cup, then after I coated then, I brushed chocolate glaze! They totally looked like donuts! And were delicious! I ADDED THREE PHOTOS of THEM to THIS RECIPE, so you can CHECK IT OUT if you wanna see how they came out :) I just wished I had sprinkles and it would have been perfect donuts!

I followed the recipe exactly and it came out great! It was my first time making a pizza crust so I was a bit nervous, but it was delicious! I also used "Easy Pizza Sauce III" from this site and wow, it was so delicious. I'm definitely making my own pizza from now on. :) I would recommend the recipe. Just follow instructions!!!

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I really like this lemonade. If you think it's too sweet, use as much sugar as you want. I use 1 1/3 -1 1/4 cup of sugar. Depending on the size of your lemons, 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice equals 7-8 lemons. Don't forget to leave the pulp. It makes the lemonade look so pretty and it tastes good, too.

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly and it came out wonderful. I also used "Jay's Signature Pizza Crust" from this site and together it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this recipe. Follow the recipe as written! I think the amount of oregano is FINE. I'm surprised some people said to use less than what the recipe calls for, but I think it gives way more flavor. Just take it the sauce and if you think it has enough oregano, just don't add the rest.

Albondigas

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I'm not a fan of soups, but I decided to make this when it was cold & raining. I followed the recipe as written, and it came out wonderful. I really enjoyed the flavor of it. I'm definitely going to make this again. It's a keeper. I'd recommend others to try it :) UPDATE APRIL 2011: I added 1 TSP of Garlic Powder, Paprika, & Cayenne Pepper. I also added celery; it adds such a nice flavor. I don't add the salsa in the pot anymore. It tastes good w/o it, but I place the salsa on the table so we can add as much salsa as each person would like to their own bowl. BTW, the fresh cilantro as garnish is GREAT! Try it out at least once.

Cranberry Upside-Down Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I tried another coffee recipe from this site (Aunt something's coffee cake) and it was a disaster. I made it twice and it was still horrible. So, once I found this recipe, I was optimistic that this one would be better because it uses sour cream(I think that definitely makes a difference in coffee cakes). I followed the recipe exactly except I used frozen strawberries b/c it was the only thing I had, and the coffee cake turned out DELICIOUS! It was AWESOME. It was soft and moist *drools* I really loved the texture of the cake! It was NOT dry or hard, nor too soft. This recipe is definitely a keeper, and I can't wait to make it again. I'd recommend this recipe to everyone! I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating the great taste, but I was searching for a good coffee cake recipe and FINALLY, I found this one: DELICIOUS! :)

Mexican Wedding Cookies (Polvorones)

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I used 1 cup of margarine instead of shortening and used 1 cup of chocolate chips instead of walnuts. I LOVED how the recipe turned out. Oh, if the powdered sugar doesn't stick, put it in a plastic bag and place 2 cookies in there at a time and shake it for a few seconds. Take them out and then in 10MIN, powder them again and the coating sticks much better and it's thicker.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
This is my second time making this recipe, but I didn't make them into rolls. I made it into a loaf of bread! It was so good. The bread is great. I love how soft and moist it is. I followed the recipe as written, except I made it into a loaf, of course :)

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
This recipe turns out wonderful. Some Reviewers thought it was sweet, but I thought it was fine. I thought they were exaggerating. If I don't have bread flour, I substitute it with All Purpose Flour. I've made it a few times and will continue to do so. This is how I make it: 1) Get a large pot, heat the water to warm & let sugar dissolve. Once it's lukewarm, sprinkle in yeast & gently stir once. Let it get foamy for 13-15MIN (I turn on the oven @ 350 for 1MIN, turn it off, & then place the pot of yeast mixture inside to rest. That way it's in a warm environment). 2) Mix salt & oil into yeast. Mix in 3 cups of flour, stir, then add remaining flour. 3) Knead dough INSIDE the pot until smooth, about 6-8MIN. It's not difficult to knead in the pot. It's quick, easy, and less messy. My counter and laziness thanks me :) 4) Oil the pot, coat the dough, cover w/ plastic. 5) Turn on oven @ 350 for 1MIN to create a warm environment. Turn it off, and then place the pot of dough inside. Let rise for 1 HR as directions say. 6) After the 1st rise, punch down dough, turn on oven again @ 350 for 1MIN, turn it off, and place the loaves inside to rise for 30MIN as recipe states. Right before I bake them, I brush melted butter over the tops. I bake them exactly for 31MINS. I love this bread. Thank you so much for posting it. If I just need 1 loaf, I halve the recipe and do it the same way as I described. It's delicious. :)

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
This was surprisingly good! I thought it would be bland but oh, it was delicious. It was smooth, soft, and it smelled good. I heat the milk with the butter (it's easier to mix it in with the potatoes afterwards). I've made this a few times, but now double the milk & butter. It makes them creamy.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
I followed the recipe as directed. And I also followed the suggestion of 1 reviewer: I added 1teaspoon of cinnamon to the apples after I was done slicing them, & I brushed egg white on the crusts. I didn't make my own crust. I bought 1 box of Betty Croker pie crust mix. And even though the pie was great, next time I'll buy 2 boxes of Betty Crocker b/c 1 box wasn't enough. The bottom crust was too thin, but the lattice top was fine. I poured the filling onto the apples & saved 1/4 of a cup of it to pour some over the top crust. Overall, the pie was delicious! This was my first time baking a pie & it was my practice pie b/c I'm making it for Thanksgiving this year.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
I ADDED A PHOTO OF MY DONUT MUFFINS but I made them look like donuts by using a measuring cup and foil forming them into 'cups'. This recipe is delicious. I don't use light corn syrup. Instead, I use honey as a substitute. That was the ONLY thing I changed, and I followed the recipe exactly. I don't have a double boiler, so I just boiled water in a medium pot and placed a wok on top (or any saucepan/pot that doesn't sink down). I waited until it heated and then I pour the ingredients in there and it melted nicely. I did all that because we don't have a microwave. It was easy to do, and I'm very happy with the results. I used this glaze to pour on top of DONUT MUFFINS (recipe on this site). DELICIOUS!
