Outside my favourite pub in England
About this Cook
I have recently moved from the UK to the US where I am excited to be coming across new ingredients and recipes that I would never have considered (or even known about) before.
My favorite things to cook
For a long time I haven't enjoyed cooking at all; working and studying full time meant that cooking was just yet another chore. Now I am not working, I am enjoying finding new things to cook - breads, bean dishes, slow cooker recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother used to do her week's cake baking on a Sunday afternoon and I have really fond memories of us spending hours in the kitchen baking up cakes and pies and desserts for the week. I would love to continue this tradition. We also love to cook a roast for Sunday lunch with all the trimmings - one chance for us all to come together for a proper meal.
My cooking triumphs
Now I have more time, I am experimenting with lots of new things. I recently made foccacia for the first time and it was delicious. Tonight I made a traditional bread and butter pudding and it tastes delicious, just like my mother used to make!
My cooking tragedies
I am struggling to get to know the oven in the house we are renting. It cooks a lot hotter than I am used to so we have had a few burnt offerings that have been a bit disappointing. I also have a bread maker and even on the lightest setting it tends to burn or over cook the outside of the loaf.

Slow Cooker Chicken Marrakesh
Very easy to make and it tasted delicious. This was a big hit with all the family, even my ultra picky teenager. Will definitely be making this again.
