Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

I really liked this stew. Great flavor, very rich and thick. I had to make a few changes, however. First, 3 pounds of meat was too much. Maybe the recipe used a much larger slow cooker than mine. I used about 2 pounds of meat. Also, it was a little too thick and not enough sauce. When it was almost ready, I actually removed at least a 1/3 of the ingredients (meat, potatoes, and carrots), leaving 2/3 of the recipe and the sauce in the slow cooker. I then added the 1/4 cup water and 2 tbs flour so the sauce could thicken. At that point, it was a nearly perfect stew. I added a bit more salt (to taste) and just a bit more red wine, let it sit for about 5 minutes and then served. Everyone loved it! As to the 1/3 of the ingredients that were removed from the recipe, after our dinner, I just put them all back in the slow cooker, which of course left very little of the sauce, but it was still a great lunch the next day.

Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream

This is the 5th ice cream recipe I made with my new ice cream maker. By far the very best ice cream. It truly is like velvet. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of using chopped Kisses instead of chocolate chips.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Very easy, very tasty. I made it pretty much as this recipe indicates and found (as did others) that 1/3 cup of olive oil is too much. In fact, the recipe calls for entirely too much liquid. I have a large sized slow cooker and half way through cooking, the bird was nearly submerged in liquid and was basically being boiled. I drained off all of the liquid and allowed the cooking to continue. After 3 hours on high, it was done, essentially falling off the bone (too much so) and I had started with a frozen whole chicken thinking that would help. That may be why I had to drain off the liquid. Nonetheless, it was delicious. And by the way, I made a great tasting gravy from all the liquid I drained off!

Jennie's Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken

Wonderful flavor. I didn't have dry Italian-style salad dressing, so I used 1/3 cup of regular Italian salad dressing. The sauce alone could be used with many different things. I made this with 4 boneless thick-cut pork chops and it came out just as good as the chicken.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Very good recipe. I also made a few changes, but nothing that would take away from the original recipe. I used a whole onion, a small carrot sliced, and a couple stalks of celery, sliced (including the leafy tops, diced). I found this soup to be light and tasty. It would go great with something heavier, such as a grilled cheese sandwich.

Chicken Lasagna IV

Followed the instructions exactly as stated and it was absolutely outstanding. I had never made lasagna in my life, so it was pretty risky making 2 of them for the first time to serve as the main dish for a large birthday party. Everyone raved and almost everyone asked for seconds!
