Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2015
I made this as directed. It was not terrible, but it lacked flavor. I would use this recipe again as a template, but would use butter or bacon grease (that I have saved in the freezer) in place of oil. Consistency was right on.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
Wanted to like the recipe, it looked great and smelled great. The flavor just wasn't WOW...which is odd, considering how many flavoring adding items are in it. I served it with rice, and if I do decide to make it again, I would serve it with mashed potatoes. Even my daughter said she thought it didn't go with rice. Had fun making it, maybe our Trader Joe's brand Balsamic left something to be desired? When I asked my Husband and daughter if I should save the recipe to make again, they both said.....ahhhhh, no.

Whoopie Pies VIII

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
This rating is for the base, which was good for whoopie pies, everyone loved them ( I used a different filling made from marshmallow fluff). I used a #40 scoop and the recipe made 33 double cookies (66 total). Outside edges were nicely crisp, inside delightfully moist.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2012
Lovely treat. Served cold. Interestly, it cuts nicely the next day and tasted great. I think it would be wonderful warm, will try it that way next time. I drizzled some honey over the top, but probably only used 1.5 tablespoons, not 1/c. cup. That seemed like plenty.

Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
My family loved these. Easy to make, great taste. I had two ears of fresh corn that were not cooked. I husked them, wrapped them in a wet paper towel and microwaved them for 5 mintues. Then cut corn off and proceeded with recipe. Worked great. I followed the advice of other reviewers and added extra sugar. I used 1 tablespoon. While they were delicious, I would add 1.5 to 2 tablespoons next time. Very good!

Lemon Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
Added zest from the entire lemon. Made the sour milk with lemon juice instead of vinegar. Made a yummy glaze of powered sugar and lemon juice. Very nice scone, 15 minute bake time was fine, as mine were separated in the baking sheet. Also added 2 tsp. poppy seeds. Yum!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2011
Wow, these were so delicious! I made for my daughter's sleepover. They were easy to make the night before, then I popped in the fridge. The next morning I heated water in the microwave to warm it up, then put the cold rolls in the microwave to warm up while the baking oven came up to temp. Not sure I needed to do that step, but I did. They baked up great and we loved them. I will definitely make these again.

White Chocolate Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
I added three drops of orange oil to enhance the zest, gave cookies a great orange flavor. I didn't realize I was low on white chips -- used one cup whitel, one cup chocolate. I am a person that doesn't really like white chocolate, but in this recipe, I belive they fit the application better than regular choc. chips. More subtle flavor with the orange with the white chips. People liked them, but agreed they would be better with all white chips.
