My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
I have tried this recipe twice. The first time I tried it with the various modifications other reviewers suggested (butter over margarine, reduced bake temp, stirring more frequently, etc.). Today I followed the recipe EXACTLY and both my husband and I preferred today's results. Both attempts had good flavor, but today's version was crisper and didn't stick to the teeth...overall a better result. Follow the recipe and you will be pleased!

This was delicious! I was apprehensive about the cheddar cheese, but I'm glad I followed the recipe...great spasagna. Will make again.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2012
Delicious! I tried this simply because this recipe wasn't loaded with cheese (as most good broccoli salad recipes seem to be). The cheese was not missed...very well received at family picnic. I followed other reviewers' suggestion and subbed in red grapes for raisins.

The Best Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
This banana pudding is VERY rich...and well received by everyone! I often replace the nilla wafers with Nutter Butters...this takes any banana pudding recipe up a notch and I've had true Southerners tell me that it's the best they've ever had!

Wonderful Short Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
Very tender, fall off the bone product. Followed the recipe exactly and enjoyed our ribs. Hubby and I prefer smokier, bbq flavor and the sauce on these was very "tomato-ey." I love tomatoes and sauce, but think we'll try some of our favorite BBQ sauces next time we slow simmer ribs on the stove.

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2011
Absolutely delicious! I've been eating this (as prepared by my mother) for years. Finally began making my own batches...and gifted several for Christmas this year. For added health benefits, I included the addition of milled flax seed (1 cup each of flax, wheat germ & oat bran). Scrumptious!

One word: Divine! If you're looking for a recipe for Walker's Shortbread. Followed the recipe exactly as directed. removed from oven at 23 minutes. Scrumptious and totally worth the 5 minutes of kneading.

Florentine Chicken Ring

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
I love this recipe...especially for its flexibility. I've made it as is, but since then I've started omitting the lemon zest and nutmeg and adding some chopped onion and minced garlic instead. This is a delicious way to get some spinach into my hubby and kiddos.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
I followed this recipe exactly (using ground venison). I took it to a group dinner and everyone there raved. They really were delicious and reminded me of my grandmother's recipe (she also used tomato soup).

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Yum! I followed the recipe exactly and was delighted with the result. My entire family devoured their soup. You could probably reduce the amount of cheese (or choose a lower sodium variety), as the end-product was borderline too salty for my taste. However, the rest of the family gave no indication of having noticed this...so I will make it again.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
5 stars for taste, simplicity and ease of use. I prepared this batter the evening before and only needed to heat the waffle iron this morning. I followed the recipe exactly and was quite pleased with the results. Tasted great with fresh fruit and syrup!

Grilled Delmonico Steaks

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
I made several adjustments (per other reviewers recommendations) and while very flavorful, the result was still WAY TOO SALTY! Griller beware! I halved the soy sauce, halved the salt, and used only 1 T steak seasoning. Next time I will use only 1 T soy and omit the additional salt altogether.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
LOVE this pizza sauce. If your kids are sensitive to spice (hot), you may want to reduce the red pepper flakes just a bit. I use this recipe every time I make pizza.

Snow Ice Cream II

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Yum! Yum! Yum! Next time I will follow other reviewers advice and combine the sugar/milk (or cream) ahead of time to dissolve the sugar granules. Even with some extra "grit", this snow ice cream was a hit! Very sweet!

These burgers were tasty- but needed just a bit more zip to garner 5 stars from our family.

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Followed the advice of many other reviewers and used 1 can corn, 1 can black beans and 1 can Ro-Tel (in place of the 3.5 C black beans). The dish was good, but too spicy for my children. I will use less cayenne pepper next time.

Mushroom Barley Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Our whole family really enjoyed this dish. I used "quick" barley- as that's what I had on hand. It reduced the cooking time by more than half. I was also heavy-handed with the mushrooms. Very tasty!

Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
I tried this recipe two ways. Long story short: follow the recipe exactly! I read all the reviews and initially boiled it to 235 F (which took 10 m), then mixed in the marshmallow creme, and waited till the mixture cooled to 125 F before mixing in the PB and vanilla. The resulting fudge was edible/fine/a little crumbly. Following the recipe exactly as indicated took far less time and yielded a deliciously creamy result. Save yourself some time and follow this recipe as written!
