Swedish Meatballs I

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2001
This is a great base recipe. It was extremely simple and with a few personal touches it will be a really big hit. I made this for my husbands Christmas party at work and he said everyone raved about them. I used a 2 lb. bag of prepared italian frozen meatballs instead of making my own to save time and doubled everything. I used 1 golden mushroom soup in place of 1 cream of mushroom. I added SALT and pepper and NUTMEG which really did the trick. Super fast, easy and delicious. I can't wait to make them for us!

Mid-Summer Italian Bread Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2001
This is a GREAT salad. I minced the garlic and added it to the dressing. I also mixed the vingar (I used red wine) with a teaspoon of prepared mustard before combining with the oil so it would combine better. I would toast the bread in the oven next time first so it won't be so soggy. I left out the cucumbers and used all tomatoes too.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2002
I made this for dinner and my husband coundn't say enough about how delicious it was, and my VERY fussy girls' backed him right up. I think there was too much chicken for 4 people and I would use 4 halves instead of 8 next time to make the ratio of chicken to potatoes more even. Instead of the milk (I used condensed) you could use 2 cans of soup for a thicker sauce but I just added 4 Tbsp. of flour to 4 Tbsp. of melted butter and cooked stirring constantly for a minute until bubbly. I added to the sauce for the last hour as well as some salt, pepper and sprinkled a layer of nutmeg on the top. It tasted great and was plenty thick enough for me.

Chicken Lasagna IV

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2002
This is a GREAT recipe. I added a little italian seasoning in the sauce because I thought it might be a little bland without it. I don't care for ricotta cheese and was pleased to find a recipe for lasagna that didn't call for it. It was delicious and everyone raved about it. VERY rich.

Smothered Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2002
This is a GREAT tasting recipe! Reminded me of green beans from when I was a kid. I just cut up the bacon with kitchen shears, it's a lot easier than using a knife.

We made these in home-ec when I was 16 and I made them at home for my family several times and then misplaced the recipe. I am now 32 and am soooooo glad I found this recipe again, I can't wait to make them for my children.

This recipe is way too crumbly to spread and lacks flavor!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2003
This bread is very good. I think next time I will add more sugar to the dough and put some cinnamon is as well. It was much less sweet and cinnamon tasting as I thought it would be. It could also stand more raisins.

Braised Celery

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
One day while I was cutting up some celery for my kids snack I realized that no one ever serves celery cooked for a side dish. I was curious and began looking for a recipe to try and was lucky enough to discover this one. I made it for my husband and me to go with our dinner that night and it was WONDERFUL. The celery was so tender and flavorful even my husband RAVED about it (and I was a little leary serving it to him to begin with). I know the thought of braised celery doesn't sound very exciting, but try it when you are in the mood for something different! It's delicous. I wish there were more than 5 stars!

Egg Salad III

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
This is a good recipe that is different from the ordinary egg salad. I did add a little chopped celery and some celery salt. Thanks for sharing!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
This couldn't be easier or better! I put it in as I was running out the door so I cooked on low from 7:00am to 3:30p.m. on low and from 3:30-6:30 on high. It was a large 8lb. overstuffer roaster. I would take the popup timer out to season and then put it back in. The paprika might make it stick down.

Very good! Very tropical tasting. My family and I really liked this, it was a nice change. The flambe at the end adds just the right touch of danger for fun! :)

Peppermint Stick Dessert

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2006
I was on the fence about this dessert. It was very easy to make, the candy canes do melt and it tasted pretty good. It was VERY sweet and gooey with the marshmallows and I chose to sprinkle some crushed up candy canes on the top and I HATED the crunchy texture in an otherwise smooth creamy textured dessert. I would skip the candy canes on top. This was neither the worst or the best dessert, but was worth a try!

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
This recipe literally made my day! I was getting ready for a cookie swap and having a bad baking day. The first cookie recipe I tried were terrible and didn't turn out. I realized I had no confectioners sugar and we were having a blizzard-so I made some, then I burned my last 4 squares of baking chocolate in the microwave. All I had was cocoa powder so I Googled "Chocolate Crinkles with cocoa powder" and the first hit was this recipe. These came out FANTASTIC, moist & chewy! I am not a big chocolate person normally and I couldn't keep away from these. They are wonderful and really turned my day around. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
These are SO delicious. I was making the overnight ones with the butterscotch pudding and they are MUCH easier. But I like the taste of these better. These are very messy too-but sometimes it's fun to get messy if you know what you're in for! I used the Ziploc bag like other reviewers suggested. It was nice to be able to throw some of the mess away!

I typically don't like white chocolate, but this mix is DELICIOUS! I don't know if it's the sweet/salty combo or what, but it's great!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
Absolutely fabulous is right! I will NEVER buy greek dressing again. If you have trouble with it seperating I would mix the mustard with vineger and seasoning and slowly whisk in oil after. Works like a charm. I keep mine in the frige though.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
I made this as directed, without the raisins. The store didn't have buttermilk so I just used regular milk with vinegar in it. It is FABULOUS. I have always found Irish Soda Bread bland and boring but this one isn't at all. It has a great moist texture too.
