Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
I was looking for a different deviled egg recipe than the normal mustard, mayo and relish kind and this is it! Everyone loved them!! I actually wanted to try them the way the recipe reads before changing but to make 12 eggs, it was 1/2 tsp. of garlic powder and that seemed a lot since I knew kids would be eating them. And then after taste testing, I decided to add about 1/2 tsp. of the white wine vinegar and 1 Tbsp. of mayo. They turned out awesome... this is a keeper!! Even my picky 4 yr old said "Mommy, I loved those eggs!" Hooray!! :o) Thank you for posting!

Swiss Sherry Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
My changes: cream of chicken soup (mushroom allergy), unseasoned bread stuffing (that's what I had), half the amount of butter (plenty!) and almost double the dill. Cook time: I have a convection oven and it only needed 21 minutes. Comments I received: "Wow!" - husband. "Awesome Mom" - picky daughter. "You can make this at my wedding!" - 8 yr old son! Thank you for the great recipe! :o)

Cinnamon Pumpkin Waffles

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
I just served these for dinner tonight... Oh WOW!! I love a recipe that I can do substitutions with, and it still turn out. I subbed white whole wheat flour for the whole wheat and whole wheat flour for the wheat germ. I knew the family would not eat it the other way. I also subbed brown for the white sugar. I made a double batch but only used one amount of the sugar. It really doesn't need the sugar if you serve with syrup. When I make again, I will maybe put in 1 Tbsp. I also went with a whole egg instead of the egg white... I don't like waste! Lastly, I used walnut oil. And since I had homemade pumpkin puree and applesauce, I had to cut down on the milk some since they are runnier. So yummy! Thank you!

Although I try not to use the microwave... this is a great way to cook those eggs when in a time crunch! Thanks for the idea!

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
These were great! Definitely drain! -- I didn't do a good job of it... will next time! Didn't change much other than my own spices because I don't keep Old Bay and added grated carrot. Thanks for great recipe!

Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
Oh Wow! The only thing I changed was to take out the egg and WOW! My husband usually manages to make our burgers well done which usually means very dry. But even after him doing that, these were still moist. I hate well done burgers but this recipe made them totally tolerable. Thanks!

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
"Oh WOW Mom!" is what I have been hearing in my household! Thank you for a great recipe! I did change a few things because I didn't have all I needed on hand but I don't think it changed the integrity of the main recipe. I used butter (not oil), cinnamon chips (not chocolate) and raspberry yogurt (not plain). I couldn't believe how light but filling they turned out to be. I make a LOT of muffins and find that many really do need a topping... this one is one of the few that does NOT need it! Fluffy inside, nice little crunch on the outside... GREAT muffin! Thank you!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
This sauce is out of this world!! I've already made 3 batches -- use on chicken, sandwiches, etc. My only change was to use the Worcestershire sauce because I don't keep steak sauce on hand. Thanks for great recipe!!

Stuffed Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
Tried this tonight. It was so good, my kids asked me to put it on the regular rotation list!! I changed a few things though. I used turkey kielbasa (so didn't pre-boil), sweet potatoes (with butter, Greek yogurt, salt and garlic powder) and cheddar with the mozzarella. I don't think my changes are enough to change the recipe per say... but that's what I had on hand. I will try it with regular potatoes next time just for curiosities' sake. But the sweet potatoes with it were a huge hit!! Thanks for the idea!

Onion Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
I love finding a recipe that I can stick to the basics on but change if needed based on what I have on hand, etc. I was looking for a way to use up some extra-large onions someone gave us and this is a WINNER!! I have two little people and even they were raving about it. I normally shy away from using so much onion in a recipe but I didn't this time and Wow! The only thing I did different was to add one more egg, a bit of powdered mustard, broccoli and turkey bacon. I can't have cream so used evaporated milk and went minus the crust - but that is just preference for all my quiches. Excellent!! Thank you!!

Rise 'N' Shine Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2012
When I mixed the ingredients, it was just crumbs. I baked them anyway thinking "that's how it's written so must be okay"... nothing like waiting for a mouth-watering biscuit only to get a crumbled mess. I gave 2 stars only because the taste wasn't bad.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
I stuck to the ingredients listed with the exception of needing to use the standard substitute for 'self-rising' flour -- b.powder, flour, salt -- and I added just a bit of honey. But even with that, these were terribly bland and blah tasting. Just a 'normal' run of the mill biscuit has some sort of flavor... these just did not. You had to have some sort of flavored butter or jam on them to make them edible. Even my non-picky husband needed more than plain butter. Disappointing.
