This was delicious! I used 1 14 oz can of crushed tomatoes, and 1 14 oz can of tomato sauce, instead of all tomato sauce. I also used swiss chard in place of the spinach because I had it on hand. This is the first minestrone recipe I have encountered that recommends cooking the pasta separately - excellent idea. For leftovers, I didn't add the cooked pasta in until the soup was completely cool. This prevents the pasta from becoming monstrous ginormo noodles overnight as happens too often. Considering adding some bacon or pancetta in at the beginning with the onions next time.
