Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
This was delicious! As other reviewers suggested, I cut the maple syrup down to 1/4 cup and added 1/4 cup bottled BBQ sauce (I used Stubbs). I used 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts but still used the full amount of sauce called for the ensure the chicken did not dry out. I cooked mine on high and they were done in 3 1/2 hours. I served this with whole wheat tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese and lettuce. Thanks for the delicious and easy recipe!

Greek Pita Pizzas

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
These were a nice change from the norm! We opted to spread hummus on the pita bread as a "pizza sauce." Because of that, I omitted the vinegar and garlic. Thanks for the idea!

Easy Garam Masala

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I had a curry recipe that called for garam masala. I searched the grocery store endlessly (including bulk spices and specialty areas) with no luck. I was so happy to find this "quick fix" on Allrecipes. I thought this was the perfect blend of seasonings- the curry tasted delicious and authentic. I ground my own coriander because I only had whole on hand. Otherwise, left everything the same. Thanks for the recipe- I will use this from now on any time I need garam masala!

Pumpkin Won Tons w/ Balsamic Drizzle

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
WOW- this may be one of my favorite recipes EVER. The is fine restaurant quality! The ingredients blend beautifully. I didn't have fresh herbs on hand so I subbed dried which worked fine. The balsamic drizzle is heavenly and the perfect pairing with the pumpkin. jenn ray- I cannot rave about this enough. Thank you for sharing- in my book, this is a masterpiece!

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
YUM! I used brown rice but otherwise made no changes. The one thing I would caution is allow plenty of time for the rice to simmer down- mine needed about 35 minutes total. However, the end result is so delicious. I will definitely be making this again.

Black Bean and Corn Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
This salad was flavorful and refreshing! I used shredded cheese because that is what I had on hand, and it was delicious. Other than that- I made no changes- this is perfect as written.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
This was a really flavorful glaze! For me, the fresh ginger really made it, so I would not sub dried/ground ginger for the fresh root. This marinade would also be delicious for pork chops. Thanks!

Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
These were a nice change from a traditional ground beef burger. As other reviewers suggested- sub 1/4 cup bread crumbs for the saltine crackers as it helps the burgers hold together better. Also- unless you really do not care for it, do not leave out the jalepeno- the burgers are a little too bland without it. Thanks for sharing the recipe, Silverwolf! I enjoyed changing things up a bit.

Creamy Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
This soup was super easy and very tasty! I liked that it used fresh broccoli and cheese that was not processed cheese. Also- I was amazed that it tasted so thick and creamy with no butter or heavy cream/half and half! Next time, I will cut back the oregano just a bit (1/4 tsp.) and I will double the recipe (for us- this made 2 large bowls of soup). Like others, I would say the cheese is a must! Thanks for sharing- I will make this again.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
This recipe is simple and produced a nice, basic roast. I love having an entire meal all in one crock pot. Next time, I will make a gravy to serve along with the roast as I felt the roast needed it. Otherwise, flavor is delicious.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
I increased the cream cheese in the frosting to 8 oz. which made the frosting absolutely delicious. Unfortunatly, I felt like the "bars" were really lacking something. They were definitely more cake like than bar like. The pumpkin flavor just did not shine thru like I was hoping. I would recommend adding more spices- they need cloves, ginger, and nutmeg for sure.

Spicy Pumpkin Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
Overall, this was pretty darn good! I haven't had a chance to try pumpkin chili yet, so I was surprised by what a delcious flavor this added to the chili. It made it taste earthy and just slightly sweeter. I did make a few changes based on other reviews. I did not drain my beans which helped make the chili soupier. Also, I used fresh garlic. And, I used ground turkey instead of ground beef. The one thing I would have liked is for it to be a little spicier. I would recommend added diced green chilies/jalapenos/something to add a little more heat which I will experiment with next time around. Thanks for the fun fall recipe, Daisy!

Kathleen’s Parmesan Peppercorn Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This bread was really something special. There were a couple things that would help improve it next time I make it- there is no mention in the recipe of where to incorporate the salt or the crushed peppercorns. I ended up kneading those into the bread but think it may have helped had I incorporated them in earlier. Also- we found 1 1/2 Tbsp. of peppercorns to be too peppery for our taste- next time I will reduce this to 1 1/2 tsp. Otherwise, this was an amazing homemade bread that I can't wait to make again. Thank you so much for sharing Kathleen! We really enjoyed it!

Great Grandma's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
Everyone raved about how moist this bread was. The only thing that was different for me was my bread needed to bake significantly longer- 50 mins instead of the 20 mins called for. Otherwise, I followed the recipe to a tee with perfect results. Next time I will make 2 loaves for sure! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Ghirardelli® Triple Chocolate Truffle Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Wow- this was restaurant quality good. My husband already asked me to make this as his birthday cake. As other reviewers recommended, I garnished with fresh raspberries. Also- note that this is a rich cake, so just a small slice will be enough to satisfy even a serious choc-o-holic! Thanks for the definite "keeper" recipe!

Delicata Creamy Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
This has to be the best fall soup in the world! I cut the recipe in half because I only had one large delicata squash... It still came out perfect. My husband liked his with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. I will make this again for sure. It is rich and elegant!

Granny's Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
This was my favorite homemade bread I have ever made. It has such a rich flavor- everyone loved it. Be sure to have lots of flour handy for the kneading process as this is a sticky dough. Also- watch the bread closely- mine was done cooking in 45 minutes. Otherwise- I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfect. Thank you and I will post a picture soon!

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
This salad was wonderful! It was elegant and worthy of a nice occasion. The only change I made was to substitute almonds for the cashews (due to an allergy) and it was still every bit as good. Thank you for sharing- I will definitely be making this again.
