Someone Made My Recipe!

Hey there fellow foodies! Thanks to many of you, the results are finally in from Round 2 of "Why Doesn't Anyone Make my Recipe?" Dozens of Allrecipes users now have a personal recipe that has been made, reviewed, and in many cases, photographed.

Here are some fun facts about our challenge this go 'round:
1.) 64 total recipes were made
2.) Throughout the course of the challenge, 2 recipes went from a status of "personal recipe" to being "Kitchen Approved!" Congratulations to both Cuppycake for her "Almond Sherbet" and Avon for her "Pollo Oaxaca!"
3.) Although a photograph was not a requirement, many of you included gorgeous photos with your recipe review.

A huge thank you to ALL of you. I could not have done this alone. Many of you took on multiple recipes (Amy E. and Bellepepper both made and photographed 3!!!), and a number of you jumped in and took on a recipe when you weren't originally signed up to participate.

The results are listed below with links to the recipes. ***Disclaimer*** Due to the volume of participation, I may overlook a recipe, a photo, a review, etc. Should this happen, please let me know in the "comments" section of the blog. I want to give credit where credit is due. Drum roll please---- here we go!

Thanks for organizing this, Darcie! I found a recipe we totally loved and it will now become a regular part of our dinner rotation. Without this game, I probably never would have found KellyAnn's awesome recipe!

this was fun, I hope there is another one soon!

Oddly, the link for the beet and pomegranate salad takes me to a Seattle Pacific University website. I was glad to know someone else made this, and could get a pomegranate. This was fun - do it again! Also, I tried the link for my own recipe and got the same problem.

Darcie did a fabulous job on this! Talk about taking on a ton of work! Thank you Darcie! You're the best!! Funny, when I made Occasional Cooker's Sticky Spicy Sweet Chicken Wings I didn't even know they were a part of this game. I just noticed the recipe being talked about on the Buzz one day and decided to try them. Glad I did, they're great!! Thanks again Darcie and all who participated. What a great turnout!
Aug. 17, 2011 5:46 pm
Thank you Darcie! Wow. I can't believe how many new recipes we have to try. You must have been very, very busy coordinating and organizing all of these. This is going to be fun going through and trying these recipes.

You guys are so sweet!! I was honored to host and so glad everyone had fun! Sorry about the recipe link dilemma-- my e mail account is through SPU, so that must have been the problem. Glad we found a solution!
Aug. 17, 2011 7:14 pm
Way to go Darc, love doing this!!
Aug. 17, 2011 8:16 pm
Fantastic everyone! Darcie, thanks so much for organizing Round 2. Extra special thanks to Tesa who's salad is how we discovered we actually like black beans and avocado (when served right :-)! There were a number of "wow this is good!" moments so what started as a game has actually served to reintroduce some great fresh veggies I'd formerly thought we didn't like. Thank you again.
Aug. 18, 2011 3:15 am
Big thank you to you Darcie for all the time you put into this. I now have two reviews on my personal recipe and a handful of saves. I will find the time to check out the other recipes you've listed here also. Again you did a fantastic job.
Aug. 18, 2011 4:02 am

Here's the link to my Chicken Chili: Since I'm still in between homes, I didn't have the liberty of making anyone else's recipe, but DarcieA generously allowed me to submit several of mine. Thanks to NicMock, Sinn, Koriekiss, and Bellepepper for making them!
Aug. 18, 2011 6:15 am
Darcy - this was a lot of fun. Thanks so much for organizing it. I can't wait until I have more time to check out all these recipes!
Aug. 18, 2011 7:06 am
I am surprised at how much fun I had! I stumbled on Darcie's blog by chance and who would’ve thought you could get a review for your favorite orphan and have a blast trying something new and untested in the process? Three cheers for Darcie!!!
Aug. 18, 2011 9:58 am
Thank you for letting me participate Darcie. I found a great recipe!
Aug. 18, 2011 10:11 am

Aug. 18, 2011 6:08 pm
This has been great fun!! Darcie, thanks so much for taking on what must have been a huge project - it must have seemed like trying to herd cats at times! ;-)I can hardly wait to try these recipes - that's my menus taken care of for awhile! The link to my Peanut Butter and Banana Muffins keeps going to Seattle Pacific University for some reason but if you delete the " > " symbol at the end, as others have pointed out, it works!
;
So much fun - thanks again Darcie!
Aug. 18, 2011 8:10 pm

I found the steakhouse black bread and the russian blackl bread but did not do them yet because I need to buy a new jar of yeast
Aug. 22, 2011 2:48 pm
Thanks for organizing it....I wanted to participate because I thought it would force me to make something that I wouldn't pick for myself and I was right! I never bake--ever, but I really enjoyed making Sweettreat's bread and it turned out great. Thanks again!
Aug. 22, 2011 3:48 pm

Cuppycake- no worries at all! Sometimes life just gets busy- don't worry- we got the pancakes covered :) Caroline- I just began graduate school on Monday so I can't commit to hosting another round right now. However, if someone else wants to take this on, we should definitely do it again!

About Me
I am an OB/GYN nurse and an avid runner. I usually enjoy half marathons, but have also completed a full marathon and a triathalon. My other passion is cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I love brunch foods- stratas, stuffed mushrooms, etc. I also enjoy appetizers and desserts of any kind.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have been so fortunate to have a family that has been supportive of letting me experiment on them. My favorite current tradition is that my husband and I devote 1 night a week to new recipes only. An older tradition that is a favorite is getting all the women of the family together 1 day a year to make all of our Christmas cookies!
My cooking triumphs
It brings me so much joy to cook for other people and have them enjoy it. My friend has her spouse rate recipes on a scale of 1 to 10. Once at a soup cook off, she asked him to rate the soup I entered, and he said, "10!" I was grinning from ear to ear, and my soup ended up winning the contest.
My cooking tragedies
We all have them, right? One thing that I am always open to is experimenting with new foods. Of course, this means some don't turn out. One time, I was trying to replicate a parsnip soup I had in England. Unfortunatly, the end result tasted not so good- I was so disappointed! Another trial of a rudabega dish was totally inedible- we dumped the entire thing down the drain!
