I am an OB/GYN nurse and an avid runner. I usually enjoy half marathons, but have also completed a full marathon and a triathalon. My other passion is cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I love brunch foods- stratas, stuffed mushrooms, etc. I also enjoy appetizers and desserts of any kind.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have been so fortunate to have a family that has been supportive of letting me experiment on them. My favorite current tradition is that my husband and I devote 1 night a week to new recipes only. An older tradition that is a favorite is getting all the women of the family together 1 day a year to make all of our Christmas cookies!
My cooking triumphs
It brings me so much joy to cook for other people and have them enjoy it. My friend has her spouse rate recipes on a scale of 1 to 10. Once at a soup cook off, she asked him to rate the soup I entered, and he said, "10!" I was grinning from ear to ear, and my soup ended up winning the contest.
My cooking tragedies
We all have them, right? One thing that I am always open to is experimenting with new foods. Of course, this means some don't turn out. One time, I was trying to replicate a parsnip soup I had in England. Unfortunatly, the end result tasted not so good- I was so disappointed! Another trial of a rudabega dish was totally inedible- we dumped the entire thing down the drain!

Chocolate Crinkles II
YUM- these are rich, chocolaty and delightful! I refrigerated them overnight which helped with the sticky dough. Also, as other reviewers suggested I transferred the dough straight from the cookie dough scoop to the powder sugar. Handling it less helped with the stickiness as well. Thanks for this keeper recipe!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup
With a few tweaks, this was a wonderful soup. It definitely needed veggies- carrots and celery were a must. I sauteed these for a few minutes first with some onion. Also- as another reviewer mentioned, 1% milk was rich enough in this creamy soup. We will make this again- thanks!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints
These are wonderful! As suggested by other reviews, I added an extra 1/4 cup of flour, did not soften the butter, and baked at 340 degrees. They came out perfect.
