About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I also like to do appetizers and soups. Anything with garlic is good too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma always made us a birthday cake growing up...homemade chocolate cherry with icing...I still make it today. Anytime my dad made a ham for supper, we would always have 'potpie' the next day...it was made of the ham broth, pieces of ham, and homemade 'leather apron' noodles. That paired with homemade ham salad sandwiches was always a favorite meal growing up. Thanksgiving was always at my grandma's house. The whole family was there, and everyone enjoyed the food and good company. I really get homesick that time of year when I can't make it home to be there with everyone.
My cooking triumphs
Getting my father in law's approval on my cooking!!! And doing Thanksgiving at my house for the first time...it was a great experience!
My cooking tragedies
When I was 18, I worked so hard on a cake that used angel food mix and had lemon icing. It was for my then-boyfriend's family's Thanksgiving the next day. Well, over night, my big tom cat got on the counter and licked a huge section of the icing off. I was so bummed out, I didn't have anything to take....almost took the cake with me anyway, didn't like his family. haha

Tiramisu II
This was absolutely delicious! I looked at over a dozen recipes for tiramisu, and settled on this one. It can be a bit time-consuming, but the outcome is definitely worth it. I have made it 4 or 5 times now, and everyone has loved it. It's much better after it sits overnight in the fridge. If you're thinking about making this, do it! You will love it!

Double Banana Nut Bread
This is a great recipe! I love that it has more bananas than you usually see in other recipes. I baked mine in mini loaves to give out at the holidays….I got about 10 out of it (last one was a bit smaller). I am definitely going to use this recipe from now on. The only downfall is all the bowls and dishes I dirtied, but it's worth it for this awesome bread!

Creamy Blueberry Pie
This is so good, and really easy to make! I used a pre-made frozen crust, and thawed it for half an hour, then baked it for about 15. I then continued with the recipe. I did make a few changes…..I added a spoonful of vanilla with the egg, and used brown sugar instead of white when making the topping. I can't believe that it's made with sour cream, it's so delicious! Everyone who has tried it has loved it.
