Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
My first thought upon tasting this was YUM! I can't believe I just made this! I used skim milk and it still thickened very nicely. I would not substitute chicken broth in place of the bouillon as the flavor is perfect as is. My only alterations were to double the ham because I had lots to use up and add extra potatoes. This is my new go to left over ham recipe!

Cardamom Braids

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I made this bread for Easter last year and plan on making again this weekend. The flavor was good, but a little too weak on the cardamon for me (thus 4 stars and not 5), so I plan to probably double the cardamom & also add some to the sugar sprinkled on top like another suggested. My one mistake was that I let the bread rise too much. (Didn't really know you could do this). It mostly lost it's pretty braid shape and got kind of round & blobby looking - but it still tasted very good! If you want something a little different, or it starts getting a little stale before you can eat it all, it makes EXCELLENT toast. Easter eggs + cardamom toast = yummy after Easter breakfast!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Sorry, but we didn't like these at all. They were the blandest, most tasteless biscuits I've ever had. We ended up throwing most of them away.

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2011
My mom made acorn squash just like this when I was a kid. It's the only kind of squash I'll eat, and the only way I'll eat it. The only difference I think is she cooked it upside down till soft, turned them over & put the butter/brown sugar in each half and put them back in the oven just to melt the butter/sugar mixture. Great, simple recipe.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
DELISH!! Everyone who tried it loved it, even hubby who usually won't eat much fruit. Now for the inevitable changes: I replaced the kiwi with diced frozen peaches because my kids won't eat kiwi. (frozen because it was the middle of winter) I also added blueberries. Don't be afraid to use frozen fruit it you can't get fresh. Mine was great even with frozen peaches & berries. My only other recommendation is to cut back on the sugar. If you use full-sugar preserves the additional sugar makes it VERY sweet. As for the cinnamon chips, I used the suggestion of others to shake the tortillas in a bag to coat. I sprayed both sides of the tortillas, cut them into 8 wedges with a pizza cutter and shook the triangles in a bag of cinn-sugar. Worked great except that after baking and cooling on the sheet they tended to stick pretty good because of the sugar on the bottom of the chips. The second time I only coated 1 side w/spray, still shook them in the bag, and the side w/out the spray didn't pick up as much sugar mixture. This worked better, but they still stuck a little bit, so I 'loosened' them w/a spatula right away and then let them cool on the sheet. Use your own technique and make sure they are baked long enough or they won't be crispy.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Sorry, but this recipe did nothing for me or my family. Even though I poked the roast with a fork numerous times, the flavor didn't penetrate at all. It was just a big piece of pork that tasted just that - plain old pork.
