Bauernomlett (Farmer's Omelet)

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
So delicious and so easy. Made one batch exactly like recipe; the other, I added shredded cheddar cheese. Made an easy and quick dinner on a rainy night.

This was a tasty, very fast recipe. I also liked that it could be served hot or cold.

Curry-Coconut Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
I LOVED this sauce but did not enjoy the shrimp in it. So, the second time I made this, I replaced the shrimp with a can of drained & rinsed chick peas. It was delicious! The next time I make it, I will increase the coconut milk a bit. Also, I serve this over Jasmine rice.

Best Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
LOVED this as did my family. Simple, without a lot of other flavors getting in the way. My mother demanded I make another batch the next time I visit.

St. Patrick's Day Zucchini-Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
Pretty good but I think I'll add a cup of raisins as well next time. The great news is that the kids love the cookies, and I love that they are eating some zucchini. Using three small zucchinis gave the cookies a light green color.

Chocolate Covered Peppermint Patties

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
Delicious and easy to make. Was a bit sticky and the finished product didn't look assembly-line perfect but they tasted great! Went so fast, we're making another batch! We used the full amount of peppermint extract and confectioners sugar as called for in the recipe but used A LOT more chocolate for dipping.

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2004
Very good; not too sweet. My mom loved the recipe but the others at the table weren't as impressed. Next time, I may try the crunch topping others mentioned to see if I can nudge this to '5 stars' next time!

Jambalaya II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2002
I don't eat meat, so boiling a chicken and sausage was pretty gross for me. However, overall, this was pretty easy to put together and smelled good cooking. My husband raved about this as did our Superbowl party guests. Will make this again for a casual party.

Buffalo Chicken Wings I

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2002
This got rave reviews at our Superbowl party although I doubled the recipe and then doubled the butter on top of that--if not, it would've been just too hot! (could've been my hot sauce and not the recipe itself). We 'Fry Daddied' the wings first and they were nice and crispy.

Grandma's Eggless, Butterless, Milkless Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2002
I love this cake! It was super easy to make and we frosted it with a rich, sweet chocolate frosting (recipe on back of unsweetened cocoa tin--kept it non dairy with soy milk and margerine). It is really moist and chocolate-y. I would make this even if I didn't have a daughter who was allergic to dairy.

Good and even my one year old daughter and meat-loving husband liked this!

Grandma's Moist Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2002
This was a great and easy-to-make cake--I frosted it with Strawberry frosting and cut strawberries between the layers and got many compliments. For the one reviewer who didn't like the cake, did you make sure to use self-rising flour? I almost missed this point, but caught it in time to add the baking powder and salt to regular flour--this is definitely a keeper recipe.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2002
I don't eat ham, but my husband said this was the best ham he's ever had--nice and juicy with great flavoring from the basting. I ended up using only 1/2 the cloves called for in the recipe and was told that I could have even gone with a little less than that.

Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2002
I found these potatoes to be a bit dry although my guests loved them. Next time, however, I'll probably stick to regular mashed potatoes instead of going through the trouble of baking these. . .

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2001
Tried it with both Nestle White Choc. morsels and white chocolate from the craft store--the Nestle morsels were a little less sweet and worked better in this recipe.
