About this Cook
Never been much of a cook but was always a pretty good baker. I was always very creative but had a fear of messing up in the kitchen. Trying to get comfortable with cooking...
My favorite things to cook
Easy to follow recipies...
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband's family is PA Dutch and he was the primary cook when the kids were home. Not a cooking style I grew up with - but interesting and tasty - and VERY filling. I love the traditional holiday meals he created that have become staples in our family.

Chicken Pot Pie IX
I needed comfort food and this was it. I like a bit more salt although I know I shouldn't. Maybe because I used organic veggie broth (had leftover). Next time I will add a bit more pepper, perhaps a couple of diced potato, some parsley from my garden and taste for salt a more carefully. I will try double sauce - but I liked the way this stood up - after it cooled a bit it served very well.

Butternut Squash Soup II
I had a sweet potato that I used instead of regular. I covered with broth and put it in the oven at 225 rather than simmer on the stove (so I could walk on my treadmill without worrying about burning the bottom). Used the immersion blender and made it very smooth and added a touch of cinnamon and dash of a cholula hot sauce.

Gorgonzola Stuffed Chicken Breasts Wrapped in Bacon
Loved the flavor - I wasn't sure if I was supposed to soll up the breasts or just cook them flat. I rolled them and secured with toothpicks - but they did take significantly longer to bake. I also used onion instead of shallots and chopped fresh spinach.
